Gopalpur-on-sea, an
ancient seaport, is one of the most beautiful, unspoiled beaches one
can see. Today, it is a modern, luxurious beach resort, and offers
excellent facilities for surfing and sailing. Warm with gentle
sunshine, the golden beach is an ideal palce to swim or laze
around.
Chaandipur-on-sea This place is still
relatively undiscovered where the sea retreats several kilometers
everyday, and life is serene and unhurried. And the superb beach at
Balighai, where the river merges with the ocean. In a word,
Chaandipur could be described as, ‘The Land of Hidden Treasures’.
The Bay of Bengal beach here, is surely one among the finest sea
beaches of India. But, with a plus, here the water recedes 3kms. off
shore and proceeds rhythmically after a regular interval everyday.
The lonely beach, whispering melody of dancing tamarisk trees, the
cool breeze creates a fantastic mood.
Balaramgudi, Chaandipur The largest fishing harbour
meeting point of River Budibalam and the sea. Some research works
are still being carried out here to find solution and cure from
cancer with some specific sea-species
Panchalingeswar, Chaandipur This place could really be
called ‘the traveller’s paradise’. On a side of the peak of the
mount Nilgiri. The temple of lord Shiva on the top, the moving
fountain at its roar will turn anybody to sit here for hours.
Chilka Lake
This
is the country's largest brackish water lagoon. South-west of Puri,
Chilka Lake is dotted with islands and is noted for many migratory
birds which flock to the nesting sanctuary here in winter. . It's
peaceful enough place but probably of greatest interest to
ornithologists.
