Welcome to India's one and only Ashram Surf Retreat. We invite you all to come and stay with us and experience Indian culture, food, yoga, surfing, etc.

Surf, Yoga & Healthy Vegetarian Food - Mulki, South India.

The Stay - During your stay with us you will surf local breaks like Baba’s Left, Tree Line, Swami’s and Water Tank. Rides to and from the surf in our Zodiac boat. No crowds, fun waves, friendly people and tasty wholesome vegetarian food. Situated in the coastal village of Mulki, Southern Karnataka [30 kilometers north of Mangalore/Mungaluru] at the mouth of the Shambhavi River and the Arabian Sea, the Ashram Surf Retreat offers you a comfortable stay in one of our non-AC guest rooms with a clean [non-commercial] home-style atmosphere. Daily activities at the Ashram Surf Retreat include surfing, kayaking, swimming, volley ball, mantra meditation, yoga-asanas, surf film entertainment and environmental awareness documentary presentations. Or just kick back, detox, unwind, relax, read a book and enjoy the sea breeze.

Surfboard Rentals - Surfboards are available for our guests to rent at Rs.500/- per day. We have short boards, fish boards, mini-mals and long boards available. We also have a wide variety of surfboards for sale [new and used]. NOTE: Surfboard Rental / Surfboard Hire is available ONLY for paying guests at the Ashram Surf Retreat.

Surf Lessons and Water Safety Training - Lessons are available for Rs.1500/- per person/per day.
Please notify us in advance if you require lessons.

Yoga Practice - We offer complimentary lessons in Yoga Asana tailored for beginners. We invite intermediate and advanced Yoga students to take full advantage of the Ashram atmosphere and practice their individual program while staying with us.

Important Details - We have 3 guestrooms. A maximum of six guests can be booked to stay at the Ashram Surf Retreat at any one time – thus never any crowds in the lineup. Also included in the above room rates for our guests (on a daily basis) are two tasty and wholesome lacto-vegetarian (we use milk products) meals (breakfast & dinner), 3 liters of mineral water and snacks such as fruits and coconuts, tea, coffee etc. As our guest we also offer you the complimentary use of our river kayaks.

Rules of the Ashram - All guests of the Ashram Surf Retreat are requested to follow the rules of the Ashram during their visit. No Alcoholic Beverages permitted, No Smoking allowed, No Non-vegetarian food permitted on the premises and couples are requested to follow celibacy during their stay with us.

Guest Eligibility - The Ashram Surf Retreat is situated in a coastal village environment. The area is principally a Hindu/Muslim community. As such single women visitors to the Ashram Surf Retreat without a spouse or male traveling companion is being discouraged. Additionally, modest swim wear and clothing must be worn by our guests at all times.

If you are a single woman wanting to visit our Ashram Surf Retreat, we encourage you to come accompanied by your significant other/spouse, brother or father. This is acceptable by the Ashram standards and the local village culture.

Helpful Information

• Guests are recommended to bring their personal supply of surf wax (if bringing their own board), sunscreen and other skin care products that they may normally use. These items are otherwise very difficult/impossible to purchase in India.

• There is a bank and ATM machine in town, about 5 minutes from the Ashram.

• There are also Travel Agents located nearby the Ashram where you can make various travel arrangements via air, train, taxi and bus.
