The ex-fishing village of Sanur is famous for
its beautiful, lagoon-enclosed beach. It is also one of the
cultural capitals of the island, where the Balinese way of life
and heritage are still strong.
La Taverna is a Balinese-style hotel that
provides European comfort. Its offers bungalows set in beautiful,
lush gardens where a swimming pool and restaurant nestle beneath
the palms overlooking the sea.
The staff are all Balinese, who are renowned
for their gentle manner and smiling faces.
This is the old Bali, the island of the Gods
La Taverna was built in 1971 and was one
of the first hotels in Bali. Its owners selected one of the best
locations on the island and in the years that followed Sanur grew
up as the first resort area in Bali
The hotel’s charm attracted many famous faces, who chose to wine,
dine and holiday there. Its restaurant gained a reputation for
excellence, with an emphasis on Italian food.
Set back from Sanur’s main road,
surrounded by the greenery of its gardens, La Taverna is a haven
of privacy and tranquility. It retains the hallmarks of the
success established over 30 years ago.
Even its beach has been returned to its former glory after
suffering from sand erosion in recent years, thanks to a major
project completed in 2003 that replaced the sand lost. Fringed by
a lagoon protected by a coral reef, this beach is ideal for
swimming and snorkeling and is safe for children. But surfers will
also find plenty to entertain them in the waves that crash beyond
the reef.
Restaurant & Bar
La Taverna serves excellent food in
gazebos overlooking the sea, pool or, if you prefer, in front of
the waves on the beach itself.
The menu features Italian, Indonesian and international cuisine,
it offers a comprehensive breakfast selection and a range of light
snacks and meals throughout the day. La Taverna also boasts the
first wood-fired pizza oven in Bali, which made it famous for the
mouthwatering quality of its pizzas. All pasta is made in-house by
our chefs, the focaccia bread is fresh baked daily and the
espresso, cappuccino and caffe latte are made with the finest
Italian coffee.
Room service is available in all the rooms, where you can enjoy
all of this in complete privacy.
