When
you first arrive in Africa, or as a marvellous last night farewell, this
is perhaps the most delightful, unique and heart-warming place you will
ever stay.
Giraffe Manor is a 1930's stone building with soaring two-storey
entrance hall and sweeping staircase, it is located on forested land
just 16 kms from Nairobi. It is a beautiful home but what makes it
completely unique are the rare Rothschild giraffe that live in the
garden and come calling on the house, peering in upstairs and downstairs
windows and doorways.
A limited number of guests can stay at the House, which is quite grand
but not at all imposing. There is a stylish sort of lived-in feel about
the place and the five bedrooms are each furnished differently.
Pre-dinner drinks gathered around the drawing room fire will give you a
chance to ask your hosts, Bryony and Rick Anderson, all about this
unusual place.
During the day you need only shake a bucket of horse pellets and perhaps
Lynn or Jock or one of the other members of the giraffe family will come
share morning or afternoon tea with you.
