Pulau Talang-Talang-
Renowned for her natural eco-trails and tribal culture, Sarawak also has
some diving sites. Pulau Talang Talang lying off the mouth of Sematan
River is a protected turtle sanctuary and permission must be obtained to
dive the area. Green, Hawksbill and Olive Ridley turtles are commonly
sighted in the vicinity
Damai,
Santubong Peninsula - Damai, Sarawak's main beach resort area, is located
on the Santubong Peninsula, about 35 minutes' drive from Kuching. The area
has sandy beaches at the foot of an imposing jungle-covered mountain
Gunung
Mulu National Park - The majestic Gunung Mulu, rising over a mass of
sandstone and shale, dominates the Gunung Mulu National Park in the Miri
and Limbang Division. The park covers 52,866 hectares of the shale and
sandstone, flanked by limestone outcrops with virgin tropical forests at
the lower slopes, seeing montane vegetation at the upper region
Lambir
Hill National Park - The Lambir Hills National Park, gazetted in 1975,
covers an area of approximately 6,952 hectares south-west of Miri. The
highest peak rises some 450 metres above sea level, in a chain of
sandstone hills bounded by rugged cliffs. The lush valleys and lower
slopes are covered with mixed dipterocarp forest, while heath forest
dominates the upper region.
