GETTING TO
SARAWAK : AIR - International
Both MAS and SIA operate frequent Kuching-Singapore services (RM 286).
MAS and Royal Brunei flights connect Kuching with Bandar Seri Begawan
daily (RM 309). MAS flies to Pontianak, Indonesia three times weekly, to
Taipei via Manila twice weekly, and to Perth and Tokyo weekly. Connections
to other destinations are via Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, Bandar Sri
Begawan, Hong Kong or Singapore. Departure tax is RM 5 (domestic), RM 20
(Brunei & Pontianak) and RM 40 (international). Fares quoted are for one
way.
Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flights are
available from Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru and Kota Kinabalu to
Kuching and Miri
Royal Brunei Airlines flies to Kuching
three times a week. Merpati Airlines flies through Pontianak. There are
two international airports in Kuching and Miri. There are also airports
and airstrips at Sibu, Bintulu, Kapit, Belaga, Marudi and Limbang
Accommodation : There are over 50
hotels in this tropical paradise, ranging from simple one-star hotels to
five-star international hotels. Prices vary from RM30 to RM500.
