Hotel Ambadi - a 46 room theme resort situated  at the Periyar Tiger Reserves, is one of the first private sector resorts in Kerala. Designed by the world renowned architect Mr. Lauwrie Baker, the hotel was conceptualized  on the traditional architectural splendor of a typical  Kerala village, complete with  a thulasi thara and nallukettu. "Ambadi" as the name denotes is the birth place of Lord Krishna, the mythical god in the great epic of India - The Mahabharatha. The life of lord Krishna, the history, the myth, is the core theme of this resort. The resort is replete with references to the life of Lord Krishna.

 Ambadi offers 46 well appointed rooms, under three different categories. The hotel has 24 independent cottages constructed in traditional Kerala ambience 

Hotel Ambadi, a part of the BIPHA GROUP, is a professionally managed company with an active presence, spanning seven decades, in a vast cross-section of industries. 

The Group, founded by Mr.K.Pappy Vaidyan, a gifted physician and Ayurvedic practioner, has interests in the health care, plantation, and information technology sectors in the state.

 The Bipha group had its foundations laid in 1929. The flag ship BIPHA DRUG LABORATORIES was founded as a small pharmacy to cater to the health care needs of local populace. Today, the  company has grown to become a multi-product, multilocation health care company with an extensive presence in the domestic and international markets.

The group made its foray into the hospitality sector with the opening of HOTEL AMBADI at Thekkadi in 1982. It was the first private sector resort at Periyar and the first hotel in the state to introduce the concept of the Heritage hotel.

However, we must remind you that he's got a real fiery taste when it comes to spicing up your dish - make sure  you leave  word with him , as far as your preference for chillies are concerned !!!
  For those of you with a penchant for sizzlers or steaks, be advised to try our steamy, spicy sizzlers. Treat your taste buds to our Kerala chicken curry and pepper fries. For  for the more adventurous, we suggest trying our Kerala meal - you'll really have to get your fingers moving articulately to fill your tummy !.
• Elephant Ride
  Enjoy an elephant ride to the forest interior. Elephant rides are organized at the Periyar Sanctuary by the Forest department. 
• DailyTrips
  Daily sight seeing trips are arranged to the wildlife sanctuary and the Periyar lake.
• Trekking
  Ambadi is  located  very close  to the  Periyar Wildlife sanctuary, and a short stroll will get you to the  sanctuary in minutes. Visit  cardamom, pepper, coffee and tea plantations, where you can have an inside view at the growing ,harvesting, processing stages  of these products.

  A guide will accompany tourists on a trek which is of around 3 - hour duration.
