Chonor House is is centrally located in McLeod Ganj, overlooking His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s temple. It was built by Norbulingka Institute as part of its endeavour to preserve and promote Tibetan Culture.

Each of the eleven well-appointed rooms at Chonor House has been uniquely decorated according to a different Tibetan theme.

The striking wall paintings created by Norbulingka artists are complimented by appliquéd fabrics, hand-knotted carpets and carved and decorated wooden furniture.
The facilities at Chonor House include a balconied lounge which is available for meetings and small seminars. Internet access is also available.

Chefs in the Chonor Restaurant create a wide range of Tibetan and international specialties. These can be enjoyed in the beautifully decorated restaurant surrounded by the famous landmarks of Tibet or in the tranquility of the garden terrace overlooking Thekchen Choling Temple.
Chonor House offers visitors a visual tour of Tibet. Guests can sample Tibetan culture, food and hospitality, and make an acquaintance with Tibetan art. Each of our sumptuous rooms has murals painted by Tibetan artists around a particular theme. These include the regions of Tibet, its wildlife, song and dance, and myths and legends. In the Dzipak Lounge visitors first come across Tibetan appliqué on a grand scale and in the dining room can view Tibet’s major landmarks. Works by contemporary artists hung in the halls and stairways offer a glimpse of modern Tibet.
