Kettuvallom (House Boat) is a country
boat that was used in the early days for the transport of goods from the isolated interior
villages to the towns. With the advent of roads, bridges and ferry services, gradually the Kettuvalloms went off the scene. Now these kettuvalloms are back again as a major tourist
attraction. A ride on a Kettuvallom is a fabulous way to explore the fascinating beauty of
the backwaters.
House Boat:
A houseboat is about 67 feet in length
and has a width of around 13 feet in the middle. The materials that go into the making are
local and ecofriendly; bamboo poles, coconut fibre, ropes, bamboo mats, carpets etc. The
main wood used is "Anjili". There are houseboats with fully furnished single
room, double room and triple rooms. All of them have sundeck, private balcony with
comfortable chairs, kitchen and toilet with w.c. In addition there is a separate rest room
for the crew. Traditional lanterns are used as lights. The crew includes a chef, and two
oarsmen. The cuisine is of traditional Kerala flavour
Alongwith the local specialties;
delicious fish and prawns. There are single bedroom houseboats for two people and two
bedroom houseboats for four people.
A glide in a "Kettuvallam"
(Houseboat) through the enchanting backwaters of Alleppey is sure to rob your heart. Palm
fringed narrow canals winding through the vast expanse of paddy fields and the neat tiny
hamlets lined up along either side of the canals are panoramic sight one can never forget.

ALLEPPY
TO ALLEPPY:This package is a voyage in the narrow canals between
the wide range of green rice paddies and the peaceful villages
enwrapped with coconut trees. Travelers can Perceive the flashes of
toddy taping (natural soma), traditional techniques of the shellfish
gathering, village walk, and the flocks of cormorant, egret, herons,
four species of moorhens, water ducks, Siberian storks, Purple herons,
seagulls, teals, and the different types of king fishers.
ALLEPPY
TO KUMARAKOM: This backwater promenade is considered to be one of
the major attractions of the land of Freshwaters. The visuals are the
similar looking narrow canals between the wide range of Green rice
fields and the rustic areas covered with the gorgeous green of the
fringed palms. Travelers can get the enlightening of toddy tapping,
shellfish gatherers, and village walk, bird's sanctuary (Kumarakom). By
the Vembanadu Lake situated an attracting island called Pathiramanal
which is a paradise of solitude and the peace for the tourists.

TO KOTTAYAM Same visuals of the nature with the confluence of rivers
and lagoons.
ALLEPPY
TO THOTTAPPALLY: This glide starts from Alleppey through the river
pampa, narrow canals and a brief visit to Chavara village, which is
known as the sacred birthplace of blessed kuriakos Chavara. In the
center of the church visitors can perceive two hundred and fifty years
Old house, the epitom of typical, ancient architectural monument.
Champakulam- the incredible experience, which offers you, is the snake
boat, which is using for the Nehru Trophy Boat Race, the enchanting
festival of Kerala in connection with the Onam festival (2nd Saturday
of the August). Champakulam church is also an ancient attraction for
the tourists (build in AD 427). Then into the Karumadi canal.
