 The curious mixture of population
in Coorg consists of the Kodavas & the Tribals. The Kodavas are a clan of warriors.
Legend says that they are descendants of the soldiers of Alexander the Great. The Kodavas
speak "Kodava Thak", a mixture of Kannada and Malayalam languages. They are
ancestor worshipers, with each family maintaining an ancestral house called
"Aiynmane".
Kodavas have their own distinctive traditional dress for special
occasions .The men wear an
outfit called "kupia" and women "sari" pleated at the back.
THE TRIBALS-are called kurubas and eravas who live in small communities in forest. Orange
