Defining
the eastern border of the Indian state of Kerala are the fabled Cardamom
Hills. In the heart of this mountain fastness is a silent tropic
wilderness, the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. To experience Periyar
is to know freedom. And The Wildernest is created to give you the
freedom to experience it, your way. We make Periyar special.
Because we keep it simple. Perched on our logotype is the Great
Pied Hornbill, (Buceros Bicornis Linnaeus) the state bird of Kerala. In
Malayalam, it's called, simply, 'Vezhambal'

Ten large, well appointed
rooms comprise The Wildernest. Each of them is different.
And they come attached with a private garden or a private balcony.
you will find that the balconies overlook and offer a splendid view of
the bamboo jungle. The fortunate few will chance upon a flying
squirrel, or a even a wild boar at close distance from here.
However, every guest at The Wildernest is guaranted to discover
something else. Valuable local advice and a few timely, thoughtful
gestures. The stone - and - brick structures use local and earthly
material, making it appear unobtrusive to the timeless surroundings.
These two storeyed structures enclose an inner courtyard.
Interestingly, the bathrooms on the ground floor open out to small
gardens of palm.
