An
introduction to the erstwhile ruling family belonging to the ancient
state of Patan in Rajasthan. Rao Digvijay Singh Patan & family now
residing in Jaipur have opened their house "Madhuban" to
tourists who would like to enjoy traditional Rajput hospitality.
About
70 miles northeast of Jaipur lies the home of the head of the Tanwar
Rajputs. The rulers of Patan belong to the Lunar clan and are
descendants of King Parikshit, the grandson of the great Pandava Arjun,
renowned in the epic, Mahabharata. Emperor Anangpal II who ruled North
India from the throne of Delhi some 900 years ago was ousted by
Prithviraj Chauhan. He later established an independent kingdom
comprising of some 380 villages as Tanwarawati which is around 3000sq
kms in area, with it's capital at Patan.
Hotel
Madhuban has been designed with the guest in mind. All the rooms have
been furnished with period furniture, showcasing the skill and expertise
of the Rajasthani artisan.
