Within the region in Inida known as Rajasthan lies Shekhavati. This is the region of the painted havelis (mansions) of the Marwaris, the trading community of Rajasthan who from 1820 onwards migrated to the ports of Calcutta and Bombay, amassed huge fortunes, and even today control virtually every sector of the modern Indiana economy.

Built in 1890 by a Marwari jewellery, Mandawa Haveli situated near Sonthaliya gate, is a piece of architectural marvel, the first frescoed haveli en route to the old town.Hotel Mandawa Haveli in Shekhawati is famed for it's lavish yet intimate hospitality.
