Let us introduce you to Taj Mahotsav, a ten days celebration of rich heritage of culture, craft and cuisine organized from Feb 18 to 27 every year. Taj Mahotsav is indeed a fitting tribute to the legendary skills of master craftsmen and exponents of craft, art & cuisine where one also gets an opportunity to admire the rich cultural heritage of art and music from the whole region. The festivities commence with colorful splendor where drum beats, folk artists and craftsmen all help to recreate a visual delight reminiscent of the golden era of Mughals.
 
Taj Mahotsav is where the legendary artisans and master craftsmen breath life into their exquisite works of arts. Apart from marble inlay, the festival bring forth an array of other fine crafts as well as wood carvings, metal wares, handmade carpets, blue pottery, terracotta, bamboo works, chicken work, silk…. to name a few. Beside this, the one who visit this festival is sure to be a part of food festival where he relish the exotic cuisines and delicacies prepared by some of the oldest exponents. Also in the Mahotsav one can experience a performance of folk music and dance from all parts of the country. So be assured this is one of the best time to travel to Agra.
 
Now again we are gathered here with pride, to celebrate the Taj Mahotsav2008, one of the most cherished cultural festival in India included in the calendar of Events of Department of Tourism GOI. This year besides all the other things, the most important reason to celebrate this festival is the Taj Mahal being chosen in the Seven wonders of the World. The whole world has voted profusely to make Taj the highest ranker. This has certainly added to the glory of Taj. So it becomes essential that we should give recognition to the great love which is bestowed on Taj Mahal from all parts of world. Thus to suit the occasion perfectly the theme for Taj Mahotsav 2008 is kept as “Vasudhaiv Kutumbkam”  which literally means the entire world is a family.
 
So the glory of Taj have crossed the boundaries of a territory and like a fragrance have spread through out the world. Let’s celebrate this pride of Taj Mahal with the world as a family.
