Domestic
Terminal -
The Domestic Terminal Complex has exclusive
arrival and departure areas spread over a floor area of 10,000 sq.m., with
a peak hour passenger handling capacity of 800. It is fully integrated
with all modern passenger amenities to cater to the domestic travellers
to/from Cochin.
With traditional Kerala style architecture
and design, the airport ambience is warm and welcome, and at the same
time, truly world-class. All domestic flights are handled through this
complex. A large shopping complex consisting of 21 shops are situated at
this terminal. There are two conveyor belts in the arrival hall.
Arrival Hall - The Arrival
Hall at the Domestic Terminal of Cochin International Airport is
integrated with travel-friendly facilities and services that help you get
around with the least of hassled.
Some of the facilities available at the
arrival hall are: Waiting Area, Baggage Claim, Prepaid Taxi (CIAL),
Tourism Information Centre, Touch Screen Kiosk (Kerala Tourism) Currency
Exchange Bureau, Hospitality Services Counters of CGH Earth Hotels, Abad
Group of Hotels, Taj Group of Hotels, Saj Hotels & Resorts and Sports
Lakshadweep Tourism, Offices of the Chief Airport Security Officer, Police
Assistance Counters, Coffee Kiosk, Public Conveniences, Fire Exit /
Security etc.
Departure Hall - The
Domestic Departure Hall has a peak hour passenger handling capacity
of 800. The departure area has a spacious waiting area for the convenience
of passengers and accompanying persons.
Airline check-in counters,
baggage screening, security check, airline offices, medical room (AIMS),
foreign exchange services, restaurant & lounge, coffee & snacks kiosk,
public conveniences etc are a few of the facilities available for
passengers at the Domestic Departure area.
A built-in shopping arcade
caters to a wide range of travel requisites with exclusive shops / kiosks
for: Apparels, Books & Publications, Cashews & Spices, Broadband Internet
Café, Kerala Handicrafts & Leather Products, Jewellery, Antiques / Art
Gallery, Supermarket, Coffee & Snacks etc.
Parking:The
airport has the facility to accommodate up to 1500 cars.
International Terminal -
The International Terminal at Cochin International Airport welcomes you to
a pleasant travel / transit experience, on arrival or departure. The
Terminal efficiently caters to a peak capacity of 1200 passengers per
hour.
Arrival Hall -The
arrival hall is located on the ground floor and is equipped to handle a
peak hour capacity of 400 passengers. The escalators will take you down to
the arrival hall. There are 23 immigration counters at the arrival hall.
The arrival hall has two conveyor belts with individual flight indicators
to alert passengers on their respective baggage.

facilities available at the Arrival Hall include: Waiting Area, Prepaid
Taxi (CIAL), Currency Exchange Bureau, Tourism Information Centre,
Hospital Counter, Cochin Duty Free Arrival Shop, Customs Counters /
Office, Baggage Claim / Screening, Immigration Counters, Security Hold,
Book Shop, Coffee Kiosk, Public Conveniences etc.
Departure Hall
- The departure hall is equipped to handle
a peak hour capacity of 800 passengers. Some of the facilities available
at the Departure Hall include: Airline computerized Check-in Counters
Airline Offices, Postal Service, STD/ISD Telephone Booths, Restaurant &
Lounge, Coffee Kiosks, Executive Lounge, Reserved Lounge, Baggage Scan,
Currency Exchange Bureau, Toilets & Wash Area, Waiting Room, Emigration &
Customs, Customs & Security Check, Security Hold and CIAL Terminal
Manager’s Office on the Ground Floor
On the Upper Floor –
Relaxing Lounge, Cochin Duty Free Departure Shop, Prayer Room, Coffee /
Snacks Kiosks, Public Conveniences, Free Phone Services by CIAL, Gates to
Aerobridges etc.
Emigration /
Immigration - Specific counters are
earmarked for foreigners and Indians to expedite the clearing process. The
health check is compounded with immigration check. The pre-immigration
area is furnished with facilities such as drinking water and public
convenience.
At the International
Terminal in Cochin Airport, the arriving passengers are checked and
cleared on entry into the Terminal. There are 15 Emigration counters
available at Departure and 23 Immigration counters at the Arrival
Terminal.
Customs -
Two Customs channels are available for
‘arriving’ passengers namely Red and Green Channels. The Green channel is
also called as ‘Walk through’ channel, through which arriving passengers
without dutiable items can walk through. The Red channel is earmarked for
clearance of passengers with dutiable items.
There are 10 Customs
Counters at Arrival and 5 Customs Counters at Departure, which include
counters for currency declaration, transfer of residence and crew.
Separate counters have been provided for clearing gold and silver and
dutiable goods above the permissible limit of free allowance.
Parking-Facility to accommodate up to 1500 four wheelers.
Passenger Information -
In our effort to be a travel friendly
airport, we strive to make your check-in / check-out experience at Cochin
International Airport as simple, efficient and pleasant as possible. We've
put together some essential information that you would need to enjoy the
experience with us.
Check-in / Check-out:
Check-in
starts at least 2 hours before flight departure. Passengers are advised to
check with their airline for detailed information. Upon arrival at the
airport, please refer to the Flight Information Display Boards
conveniently located at the Arrival/Departure Hall entrance, to check
flight schedules. You may check-in early at the airport and enjoy transit
facilities, food and beverages, and shopping at the airport!
Immigration:The
immigration set up at the airport functions under the Ministry of Home
Affairs. The immigration process is regulated by the Foreign Regional
Registration Officer, who is of the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police.
He is assisted by Assistant Commissioner of Police. The Process of
Immigration is controlled by a set of rules and regulations issued from
time to time.
The immigration process normally
comprises 4 steps:
- Checking of passport/travel documents
to identify the holder and to look out for cases of forgery etc.
- To ascertain the eligibility of holder
either to leave or enter the Country as per existing rules and
regulations
- Computer confirmation in clearing
passenger
Health check on behalf of Airport Health Office
Customs:The Central Board of
Excise and Customs, a Department of the Ministry of Finance is the agency
which regulates the clearance of arriving and departing International
passengers through the International Terminal under Customs Act, 1962.
Rules & Regulations under this Act are revised by the Government of India
from time to time.
The
Commissioner of Customs, Customs House, Cochin - 9, having jurisdiction
over the Cochin International Airport, functions from the office of the
Joint Commissioner of Customs, Air Customs, Cochin International Airport ,
Nedumbassery for regulating activities under the Customs Act, 1962 in the
entire airport area.
Two main wings under Commissioner of
Customs:

Air Customs Wing for clearance of
passengers and baggage

Air Intelligence Unit for anti-smuggling
work, prosecution and Cofeposa cells.
Air Cargo complex for Import/ Export of
Commercial Cargo / Unaccompanied Baggage of Bonded Warehouse (at the
Airport), Foreign Travel Tax, Inland Air Travel Tax Units, also fall under
the administrative jurisdiction of this commissioner.
Customs has provided green channel
facility for passengers to walk through, when they carry goods within
permissible limit of free allowance. Separate counters have been provided
for clearing gold, silver and dutiable goods above the permissible limit
of free allowance.

Security Hold
Area-The Security Hold Area has a seating
capacity of 400. Security hold is provided with all facilities of drinking
water and public convenience.
Shopping-You can shop for world-class brands and products at
down-to-earth prices from the Duty Free Shop. A shopping arcade is also
available at the airport, perfect for last minute shopping for curios or
necessary items.
To/From the Airport
- Cochin, the commercial and industrial
hub of Kerala, South India is easily accessible by road, rail, air and
sea. The Cochin International Airport is strategically located with easy
access to all three National Highways passing through Kerala (NH 47, NH 17
and NH 49) and is only half-an-hour drive away from the city.
The main Railway line from
Kanyakumari to Delhi is adjacent to the airport and it is situated between
Alwaye and Angamaly Railway Stations. The Cochin Sea Port, one of the
biggest in the country is also situated close by.
