Travel Tips:
- Stay in Kettuvellam (Rice Boat) for 1-2 night. Kettuvellam is available with ATDC, Tel
No: 243462. Contact Mr. Raghu- Secretry, Kayloram Tel: 242040 or Soma Houseboats available
at the Jetty Road where you have to get in to the boat. Many Private operators who are
giving houseboats are available on the Jetty Road. .
- Stay at Kereleyam Heritage Resort (Enjoy Ayurvedic Massage with good view) or Kayaloram
Lake Resorts, both are good and are on the backwaters –3-5 Km away from the Jetty
road. Avoid going by Road as road conditions are not good, but travel in ferry.
- If you want to stay in a good hotel, stay at Hotel Alleppy Prince situated on the
National Highway or cheaper accommodation is Yatri Niwas next to Alleppy Prince. Also you
can stay at various B & B available. One of the good one is Padipura Residence Tel No:
244978,245001 near jetty road. You can also stay at Hotel Komal or Raiban which are on the
Jetty Road.
- Alleppy has the big market on the other side of the Jetty Road, where you can do
shopping e.g. Handicrafts or surf in the local cybercafes and check your mail.
- Good eating restaurants are at Hotel Arcadia, Indian Coffee House, Viennese, Town
Restaurant near Medical College, restaurant at Hotel Raiban, Azad Restaurant, Zion
Resturant.
- Enjoy backwater drive by Speed launches (8 Seater/4 seater), Luxury Boat (40 Seater),
Ordinary boat (20 seater). The approximate charges for per hour for Speed launches is Rs.
200/-
