to get there
Kandy
is the Sri Lanka's hill capital. It is 488 metres above sea level and
next to Colombo is Sri Lanka's most visited place. The valley of Kandy
is surrounded by hills and a colourful pageant takes place in Kandy
annually.
Kandy is just on 100km (62mi) north east of Colombo and although the
town lacks an airport, there are any number of buses and trains running
between the two destinations.
Airport tax : Enter
to the Bandaranaike international Airport, Katunayake, is restricted to
all visitors. Only embarkation passengers are permitted.
The same rule applies to those waiting to meet incoming passengers.
There is also a vehicle parking fee of RS. 50/- per car, van or wagon.

Weather
: Sri Lanka has a tropical climate. Kandy is the central part of the
country and it is world famous for its natural beauty and pleasing
climatic conditions. The temperature of the central part of the country
is cooler. Within a one or two hour any one can enjoy the difference of
the temperature. There are two monsoons, which occur May to July and
December to January. The average yearly temperature for the country as a
whole ranges from 26° C to 28° C. Day and night temperatures may vary
by 4 to 7 .
January is the coolest month, causing people,
especially those in the highlands, to wear coats and sweaters. May, the
hottest period, precedes the summer monsoon rains.
