Discover the delights of the south of Mauritius starting with a sight visit at "trou aux cerfs" huge, natural volcanic crater formed millions of years ago. then we take you to the mysterious and enchanting "grand bassin" a sacred lake hidden high in the island's mountain together with the nearby natural reservoir of mare aux vacoas. afterwards you can travel for the breathtaking view of the west coast from a viewpoint among the clouds. also you can admire the chamarel waterfalls.

The principal residential city of Mauritius is situated in the centre of the Island and is also known as the city of lights. Among its numerous features are excellent restaurants and shops.

Also situated on high grounds with a rather cool and humid climate, you can visit the "Trou aux cerfs", a dormant volcano of 85 meters deep and a width of more than 200 meters where you can enjoy a magnificent view of the island among the clouds.

Situated in the district of Savanna and very near our largest domestic water reservoir "Mare aux Vacoas", Grand Bassin is a natural lake occuping the crater of an extinct volcano. Every year, about 400,000 Hindus dressed in white make a pilgrimage to the sacred lake, Ganga Talao, to celebrate Maha Shivaratree.

Unique in the world is the coloured dunes of Chamarel. This fascinating natural phenomenon is of volcanic origin. In fact this is volcanic powder caused through erosion. Considered as one of the wonders of our Island, Chamarel village is composed of various myths and legends where slaves used to hide at colonial times.

Chamarel is also a dream world for anyone wanting to find primitive vegetation near the waterfalls, which once covered the whole Island. The little village of Chamarel is also well known for its coffee plantations and the palm plantations in its deer reserve. Chamarel falls are not far away, the water falls into a huge basin, surrounded by lust greenery.
