Transport: Travelling around Mauritius could not
be easier; a good system of roads provides easy access to all parts of the island. There
is a trunk road, which runs from the airport in the south east, through Port Louis to
Grand Bay in the north. Both taxis and self-drive cars are easily available. For car-hire,
drivers have to be minimum 23 years old and in possession of a valid International
Driver's license for a period of one year at least. Driving is on the left.
Taxis: Taxis are numerous. They are recognizable by their white
registration plates with black figures, whereas private cars have black
number plates with
white figures. Taxis are now metered.
Bus: Mauritius boasts an excellent bus service. You may thus
reach almost every part of the island
