Tiger Show
The
Park Authorities send Mahouts on the Elephants early in the mornings
into the Jungle to track the Tiger. If the Tiger/s is tracked and
spotted by the Mahouts inside the Jungle, then the park
authorities announce for the Tiger Show. (During the Morning Safari the
drivers usually register for the Tiger Show in each of the forest
division or range office to enhance the chances of the guest’s being
amongst the first to go for the Tiger Show).
The Jeeps then take the numbers from the Central Administrative office of the
National Park on a first come first served basis and meet the Elephants at a
designated spot in the jungle close to where the Tiger has been spotted.
The people will ride the Elephant to where the Tiger has been spotted to see the
Tiger in the Jungle. (Ladders are provided get on and to disembark from the
Elephants). Usually the ride for the Tiger show is for 20 minutes and cost of
the same is INR 600 per person for Foreign Nationals and INR 100 for Indian
Nationals as stipulated by the park authorities.
Since Jeeps can only venture onto the Tracked Paths earmarked by the park
authorities and the forest department, while the Elephants can go into the
Jungle, Tiger Show is just a facility that the park authorities provide for the
visitors, to enable them to see the Tiger in its natural habitat.
Note:
Since the Tiger Show is strictly subject to the Tiger being tracked and spotted
in the Jungle by the Elephant Mahouts, a Tiger Show cannot be committed.
Tracking
for the Tiger Show happens only in the mornings hence the Elephant ride for the
Tiger Shows are announced only during the morning safari as stipulated in the
rules and guidelines governing the functioning of the national park
Elephant
Safari
The
amount charged by the Park Authority / Forest Department for Indian
Nationals is INR 5,000 while for Foreign Nationals the charge is INR 10,000 for
up to 04 hours. The Elephant Safari is subject to the availability of the
Elephant. If during the Elephant Safari a Tiger Show is announced by the park
authorities, the Elephant being used for the safari will have to be shared with
other visitors to the park till the duration of the Tiger Show as per rules and
guidelines of the Forest Department.
