Sree Sankara Ayurveda Vaidyasala is situated at Perunna, in              Changanacherry thaluk of Kottayam district. It was founded by Vaidya Kalanidhi M.S. Chandrasekharan Nair, along with his two sons C. Mohanachandradas and M.C. Balachandradas in 1975. Till then V.M.S. Chandrasekharan was a senior medical officer in the state health services. He studied ayurveda from Ayurveda College, Trivandrum staying with and under the guidance of the eminent scholar and celebrated physician Konniyoor Sri K. N. Kesavapilla. Being well educated and highly dedicated he made use of his knowledge in Panchakarma treatment and Kerala special ayurveda treatments for the betterment of the poor people seeking shelter in Government hospitals. This ensured that he gained vast experienced and deep understanding the possibilities of ayurveda. After retiring he started Sree Sankara Ayurveda Vaidyasala.

What is Sree Sankara Community of Ayurveda and what is its efforts?

The Community has been set ups to find out the potentialities of Ayurveda and to propagate it for the benefit of the whole world.

What is Ayurveda treatment and how it works?

Ayurveda is the science developed by ancient saints(Scientists) of India based on Three humours identified from  Five elements.It works not only to mankind but also on all life in the  universe .The explanation will take pages.

Are the Massages are the treatments?

The Massage is preparatory procedure for treatments.

What types of diseases Ayurveda can cure?

Ayurveda can cure all type of the problems e.g. Kidney  problems,
Chronic Spondylosis, arthritis,some types of cancer or tumor and
even infertility (around 6 months courses).

What are the treatment periods & cost involved?

The treatment ranges from 4 weeks to 12 weeks depends patients condition and requirement and the treatment costs range from RS. 48,000 to 1,10,000.

Why the Ayurveda Treatments are so expensive?

The higher cost is due to scarcity of the raw materials and manufacturing of medicines. The cost quoted above is not only for treatment but it
includes Accommodation charges in our hospital ,Food, Transfer from
Trivandrum or Cochin airport or Railway station and treatment
including meditation.

Where you get your medicines?

After collecting Raw drugs from various states of India,  medicine is manufactured in very good hygienic standards and strict inspection.

Are these medicines available at the Chemist's Shop?

No, We are not marketing our medicine in a commercial basis.
Even though we have fully equipped Factory, preparation of medicine is restricted for the use in the hospital and OP  departments because of the scarcity of the raw materials and the  difficulty in keeping up the standard and quality if prepared in  huge   bulks. We prepare most of the medicines ourselves. We use it in the  hospital and are made available at various OPDS, for the convenience of  the patients.

Are these medicines have the side effects?

According to Ayurveda any   material in this universe can be used as medicine, as per the needs. Sometimes a human being can have allergy to any type of substance. For  e.g. some have allergy to some vegetables, milk products, honey or an herb. But this allergy may not be serious or fatal. Proper use of  medicine and treatments will not cause any side effects.

Where you get the patients?

The patients from almost all the districts of Kerala. The non-Indian patients are more from Europe and USA

What are the formalities for joining your Vaidyasala How you decide from the abroad patients, what is the treatment period and requirements?

The formalities to gain admission in the hospital itself points towards the care and traditional attitude adopted by the Vaidyasala. One has to contact our doctors and we have a questionnaire, which usually we send to patients according to the direction from the doctors prescribe a plan of treatment and the patient is informed. The form is in two language i.e. English &  German.  

The patients  then can plan his/her program and reserve a room in the hospital through mail, telephone, fax massage or e-mail. According to the information from the hospital he can come and get admitted. This is the normal procedure of admission for the patients away form here.

How you promote your community abroad & create awareness worldwide?

We have our friend Mr.Christian Fuss , from Germany, who was
cured here around 8 year ago and now settled here voluntarily. He
works  for the community and the hospital. He explains the various things
about  us and promotes us free to his colleagues worldwide. He is married  to a   Keralite Woman and got a child and settled near Changanacherry in  India.   Also persons treated here and cured gone back to their countries  have   found associations who promote Ayurveda.

What is the reason of opening an Ayuverda Resort Sree Sankara Garden at Anakkara, Thekkady ?

Sree Sankara Gardens is to provide every guest a program of experiencing and learning a bit about Ayurveda. S.S.G. has an extremely holistic Approach; inspired by the sages of ancient India - that mind and body are inseparable in all their activities and that the diseased should be treated not the disease. They conduct workshops on Yoga, Ayurvedic massage, Ayurveda energy massage, Indian Music, Philosophy, Painting, Traditional arts , Science of Medicinal plants and Ayurvedic cooking.

What is your message to our viewers?

Ayurveda treatments are to be taken seriously and follow ups (curative) treatment is not done in the right manner it can slow down or check the healing process or can produce new problems and side effects. E.g. Persons not adapting the proper food habits & diets and goes in the lure of commercialization of ayurveda.

I came via Kuwait/Trivandrum.

What were the problems and how you find the treatment?

I had some internal medical problem and with treatment, the problems are reduced to far greater extent. However first 3 week of the treatment, the pain increases very much, but after that I really feel relaxed and rejunaveted.
