Enjoy
all of the luxuries, privileges and comfort of a magnificent country
residence. Casa Susegad is a restored colonial mansion house in the
village of Loutolim in South Goa. Set in one and a half acres of
grounds, we are surrounded by forest and jungle in a quiet corner of
the village. Life continues around us as it has for decades, unspoiled
by the trappings and distractions of mass tourism.
Accommodation -
Rooms are spacious and well appointed, with en-suite facilities of a
very high standard, a/c in 3 rooms, deep sprung mattresses and every
comfort. Each room opens out onto its own terrace area with granite
topped table, comfy chairs and canopy cover if needed.
This in turn leads to
your own sunbed area next to the pool, where you can enjoy our 4ft
wide sunbeds under traditional Rajasthani sun umbrellas. Depth is 4ft
6" throughout. The pool is a great place to sit and gossip with old,
and new friends.Grounds are spacious, with many little nooks and
crannies where you can be alone with the birds and your thoughts -
possibly with a dog or two in tow! Seating is provided all around the
grounds, some in the form of tree swings.
The sunset "Jopri" (Hindi for hut or
shelter) is sited on one of the upper terraces, with spectacular
atmospheric views over the jungle clad hills at sunset in particular,
although it is a lovely place to hide away at any time of the day.
If you are a keen gardener, please feel
free to get involved with our two organic vegetable gardens at your
leisure.
Restaurant -
Lunch at home is usually home made
soups and wonderful fresh sandwich rolls. Your four course dinner can
be taken al fresco on your own terrace, or formally in our sumptuous
dining room. Our food is a fusion of local Goan cuisine, cooked over
traditional wood fires for a unique flavour rarely found in commercial
settings any more, and imaginative continental dishes and desserts
that make the most of fresh local produce.
Meals can be taken
poolside or in the formal dining room as you choose. We have been told
by many guests already that the food was one of the highlights of
their stay - we hope you will agree!!.
We plan to become self sufficient in
the production of all our own organically grown vegetables and salad
stuffs. Aspiring chefs are welcome to work alongside our cooks in the
kitchen to learn how to prepare local Goan specialities.
Surroundings -
The area abounds with wild life,
with monkeys visiting most days - particularly when our mango, cashew
and other trees are in fruit. The bird life - especially early morning
and dusk - is wonderful, with bird song filling the air.
Our
six dogs and four cats will give you a warm welcome and seek to become
your very good friends during your stay. They are all rescued animals
and we are long time supporters of Goa Animal Welfare Trust.
