 The old Portuguese colony
of Goa lies on the west coast of India. 'Elsewhere' is one Goa's best
kept secrets.
The road follows the
Chapora River down stream through fishing hamlets before turning north.
From here it winds through fields full of rice, chillies and onions
before climbing on to the plateau giving breathtaking views of the beach
and ocean. A few kilometers further on you will drop down and follow the
shoreline until a Creek forces the road to turn inland. Stop here to
admire the view because ahead lies 'Elsewhere'.
The Beach Houses
: On a totally private spit of land
overlooking the ocean, separated from the rest of the world by a salt
water creek, stands 'ELSEWHERE. Four simple but charming houses located
on a beach where the only other footprints to be seen are those of
fishermen and turtles. 'Elsewhere' must be one of the most idyllic
locations to be found. Access to 'Elsewhere' is via a private, bamboo
footbridge across the creek that separates the beach from the rest of
the world. There can be no more a beautiful location.
All the 4 houses sit
directly on the beach facing the sea. They are built in a traditional
style with thick cool walls, shuttered windows, cool natural flooring,
and lofty terracotta tiled sloping roof. The furniture is an eclectic
mix of traditional and rustic. They all have a delightful open sitting
areas to watch the sea by day and the stars by night.
The Houses are available
for rent for a minimum period of one week. However, we may be flexible
depending on our booking situation.
We run like a little hotel. We have housekeeping and a dining shack area
where you order food from a menu and pay for what you order at the end
of your stay. The cost of a meal per person is approximately 3 (UK
Pounds Sterling) depending on what your order.
Each bedroom has a large double bed (not twin beds). No more than two
adults will be accommodated in each bedroom. A child below 10 years old
can stay in some of the bedrooms provided the child shares the bed with
the parents. Also, in some bedrooms we can provide a camp bed at an
additional cost of 40 percent of the room cost.

A Car and Driver
: 'Elsewhere' can provide a car and driver (at
an extra charge) so that you have the freedom to visit a different beach
and in the evenings sample the many restaurants around Goa. We have a
book in each house and tent which will provide you with useful
information about the interesting things that you could do in Goa.

PLEASE NOTE: The road ends about 30
meters from the creek so there is a short walk between a couple of
village houses, across a bamboo bridge and along a sandy track - so
sensible shoes are a must. Please note that the bridge, although strong
and sturdy, is constructed from bamboo and around 60 meters long and may
be a little daunting for those nervous of heights. Elsewhere is
therefore not a good choice for those with mobility difficulties.
Otter Creek Tents :
Sharing the same idyllic beach as 'Elsewhere' Beach
Houses is 'Otter Creek Tents'. Three
exclusive, comfortable tents all in the most idyllic setting. All three
tents are on the beach and face the creek, which runs parallel to the
sea where tranquility, peace and purity prevail. Each tent sleeps 2 in a
double four-poster bed and has private en suite clean western style
toilets and bathrooms with running water and hot showers. Each tent also
has its own sit-out and a bamboo jetty, over the creek.
