Old
Goa, situated 9 km east of Panaji, has a few grand churches and
cathedrals which are among the largest in Asia. Old buildings have been
turned into museums and are maintained by the Archaeological Survey of
India (ASI). The ASI publishes a very good booklet called Old Goa
which is available for Rs 10 from the archaeological museum in Old Goa.

Other monuments of minor interest in Old Goa are the Viceroy’s Arch,

Accommodation:You can visit Old Goa on a day trip, but there
is one hotel, the Old Goa Tourist Hotel run by the Goa Tourism
Development Board of GTDC. Doubles are available here for Rs 260.
Reaching Old Goa
There are plenty of buses to Old Goa from the bus stand at Panaji and
they stop on the east side of the main circle.
