In
the San Francisco Bay Area there are a number of Indian restaurants.
Pasand Madras cuisine is unique in that it is the only restaurant
serving authentic South Indian food at very affordable prices.
Pasand Restaurants are owned and operated by the Lakireddy Brothers
who came from Andhra Pradesh in South India. Every item on our menu
is prepared with authentic Indian herbs and spice, especially
imported for Pasand Madras. Each dish is prepared in our kitchens
with extreme care to ensure you consistently good quality. Our food
is spicy but mild. Please advise the waiter if you prefer your meal
spicy hot.
Pasand Madras came a
long way from our modest beginning in Emeryville Market Place in
1975; with the opening of the Berkeley branch in September 1979. We
thank our customers for their patronage.
After 12 successful
years at the current location we have expanded and redecorated our
restaurant in 1995 to serve you better. We now have a bigger dining
area and 2 banquet halls. We also have a podium to host live classical
music performances on weekends. Ask for our special banquet menu.
Pasand also caters to parties anywhere in the bay area. We have
experience in catering for events with over 2000 people. We have
been catering to the Bay Area for many years now.
We have a variety of
lunch specials served daily from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. All lunch
specials Include a complimentary soft drink with prices starting
under $6.
Dinners:Complete Thali Dinner Includes: ONE ENTREE (Listed Below) .. Plus
DAHL (Lentil Curry), SAMBAR (Thick Lentil Vegetable Soup), RASAM
(Thin Spicy Tamarind Soup), RAITA (Yogurt with Vegetables), 2 POORIS
(Puffy Bread), PAPADUM (Giant Lentil Wafer), RICE PILAF (Steamed
Rice with Peas and Carrots), SWEET MANGO CHUTNEY or HOT CARROT
CHUTNEY and GULAB JAMUN for Dessert.

Appetizers :Fritters are made from chick pea batter and are deep-fried in
pure unsaturated vegetable oil. Served with mild coconut and hot
tomato sauces.

Curry Entrees:A la carte curries are served with Rice Pilaf and one choice of
Paratha (flat pan-fried bread) or two Pooris (puffed deep-fried
bread) Tandoor Entrees: Everyday 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. All Tandoor Dishes are
marinated in a spicy yogurt sauce and cooked on skewer in Tandoor
(clay oven) with mesquite charcoal. A la carte served with
garnishing salad and special mint sauce and nan
bread.
Biriyani
Entrees:Vegetables, Chicken or Lamb cooked with spicy Basmati rice. A la
carte served with Raita (yogurt sauce) and curry sauce.
Andhra
Specialties:All South Indian Specials are served with Sambar (lentil soup)
and hot and mild sauces.
Madras
Specialties:Dosas are crepes, each made with different lentil flours and
stuffed with vegetable curry, served with Sambar (lentil soup) and
hot and mild sauces.
