Heritage Home set in the tribal lands of the Arravallis. We the owners
of this ancestral fort, invite you to explore the Adivasi and Garasia
tribal culture of North Gujarat and South Rajasthan, enjoy fresh home
cooked meals, featuring recipes passed on from generation to generation,
and indulge in the hospitality of a family that ruled Poshina for eight
generations before independence.
Though we call our place a heritage hotel,
the ambiance is that of being part of a house party at friends home. In
this home away from home environment, we offer 25 rooms with period
furniture and antique artifacts. Each of the rooms has recently
renovated baths with western fixtures and hot showers. The hostesses
personally supervises the housekeeping and cooking, ensuring guests get
the best of Rajasthani and Gujarati cuisine adapted to individual
tastes. Subtly spiced for westerners, made without onion and garlic for
Jains, heavily spiced for those who want it that way, and so forth. We
guarantee some delicious Rajput home cooking using fresh meats and
vegetables.

Take A Trip
Your host looks after the outdoor
activities of the guests. He personally will accompany you on a walk
through poshina village. imagine a market bustling with activity where
you can watch colourful women from the tribal hamlets and tribal men
unloading there produce. You will be able to observe craftsmen at
work-forging swords, daggers, bows and arrows, potters making terra
cotta horses and other figurines, besides clay utensils, jewellers sell
chunky ornaments to the tribals. The 1214 A.D. built Jain temples & the
ancient richly carved Shiva temple is worth a visit. In addition the
host will gladly take you on an excursion by jeep which offers
fascinating glimpses in to rural Indian life. The most interesting being
the terra cotta army of horses. Drives throughout the picturesque
countryside will include visits to the remote villages of the Adivasi
and Garasia tribals who will also give you archery demonstrations.
Pastoral people like the Rabaris who keep camels, sheep and goat. We
also arrange picnics at scenic lakes, riverside farmhouses, old fort
ruins. An evening folk dance performance set in the arid landscape
illuminated only by torches and fires will be another highlight not to
be missed.
Excursions
There are also interesting places nearby
that you would love to visit. Holy Ambaji is known for its Hindu Temple
and nearby Kumbhariyaji for its exquisitely carved 11th century Jain
temples. Idar is a historic town with a hilltop fort, temples and
interesting rock formations that are a Photographers delight. Khedbrahma
is an important place of Hindu pilgrimage with a Bhrahma temple, only
three in India. Polo has some exquisite 15th century Hindu and Jain
temples, and ruins of old monuments set in dense jungles. You can even
take a trip to Mt. Abu, the hill resort known for its famous Delwara
Jain Temples. Yet should you prefer just to relax-in the cosy courtyard
within the former zenana part of the fort you will find your niche to
read, snooze or sunbathe, while the rooftop terrace is the perfect spot
to watch the sun setting behind the Arravalli hills.
