The Devpur Homestay, built about 1905 is the family
Fort of the Thakores of Devpur (Kutch). The Darbargadh built within a 2
acre area took three years to complete and remains the private residence
of the Devpur family. Built of local sandstone in the classically
ornamental Roha (Kutch) style, it consists of porticos, courtyards,
stucco pavilions and pillared halls. The Darbargadh is now also listed
as a member of the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage
due to its historical and artistic importance.
The Devpur family offers their Darbargadh's three well
appointed rooms and an eco friendly serviced apartment pavilion with a
tennis court for a traditional Kutchi homestay.
Devpur is also a delight for the bird watchers, trekkers and travelers
at large. The area’s rich Culture, Handicraft, Tradition or Archaeology
would leave any traveler spellbound and wanting to return again.
Within the Fort walls is also located a residential school. Guests
interested to participate in responsible tourism would be welcomed to
talk or participate in the activities of The White Eagles School located
on the premises.
The large heritage rooms, like any Kutch hotel or resort are warm and
comfortable with en suite modern bathrooms, living and dining areas.
Kutchi/Indian or continental meals are served in a vintage Kutch Rasoi /
Dining Room. Guests can also learn or watch the preparation of meals
with the hosts willing to explain the nuances and expertise required in
their preparation.
