Society for protection of animals and nature is government recognized charitable, non-profitable organization registered under Societies Act registered in Sept-96 registration no: MAHA/78/97/THANE . The activity taken so far in Mira-Bhayender belt situated of North Mumbai area. The work done so far is as follows.

• Creating public awareness about various environmental & animal welfare issues.
• Campaigning for human treatment of animals.
• Successful vermiculture project and waste management techniques. Animal birth control program of stray dogs.
• Successful tree plantation of 400 trees.

The main persons behind SPAN are to fulfil their dreams Mrs. Shakuntala Majumdar-Secretary & Mr. Nirmal Chatterjee-President fighting with MBMC-Mira-Bhayender Municipal Corporation for issues related to the project taken.As discussed with Mrs. S. Majumdar, she lost 3 dogs in the society and her pet dog earlier which made up her mind to take the challenge for treatment of stray dogs & well supported by Mr. Nirmal Chatterjee and other trustees. They courageously put ban on killing of stray dogs through poison by MBMC.

• The support required by SPAN are as follows.
• Volunteers to carry the day to day operations.
• Place in Mira Road-Bhayender to start small veterinary clinic.
• Support from MBMC or others for tree saplings, cages, labors for tree plantation.
• Formation of tree authority at MBMC.
