Perched high on top of a hill, amidst verdant forest slopes, Jade Hills is the perfect getaway from the city. The cottages, designed by the architect-owners, are unique 'new-old' buildings. Lovingly built (out of burnt orange laterite blocks) using doors, windows and pillars, salvaged from traditional Coorg houses, the cottage offers snug rooms with fantastic views from every aspect, including the bathrooms! The bathroom is an experience by itself, with its partly open-to-sky ceiling and private garden. The house was also recently featured in the Indian Express paper for its unique style and sensitivity to local culture and traditions. Nearby, the surrounding slopes & valleys opens up with great trekking trails, indigenous birds, natural streams, fragrant cardamom gardens and varied vegetation. Sit in the 'ambala' or gazebo, with a cup of tea, watching the sunset & you can rediscover the joys of living in the very lap of nature.

1. Bylakuppe Tibetan settlement: 40 kms. One of the largest Tibetan settlements in the world. Monastery, cultural programmes, handicrafts, handloom etc.
2. Nagarhole: 92 kms Also known as Rajiv Gandhi wild life sanctuary. Tours conducted by forest department.
3. Madikeri: (a) Abbey falls.- 8 kms (b) Omkareshwar temple - 4 kms
4. Dubare: On the Siddapura road, is the elephant camp of Dubare - 42 kms

Location :

Getting there : From Bangalore : (256 km/6 hours) through the Mysore bypass via Ranganathittu-Hunsur-Kushalnagar. Jade Hills lies 7km from Madikeri in Galibeedu village. On reaching Madikeri, follow directions for Club Mahindra Resort. On reaching Club Mahindra, continue further along the road for another kilometre until you reach a fork in the road. Take the right turn towards Kaloor. After half a kilometer, Jade Hills comes on the right hand side.

Nearest Airport : Bajpe, 40km from Mangalore (136 km from Madikeri/4 hours).

Nearest Railhead: Mysore, 120 km away (3 hours).
