your family to visit our humble home called Nelpura
which is located at Allapuzha district in Kerala. Nelpura
means granary where paddy is stored and grains for the next season
are preserved.
The Nelpura Heritage
Homestay is a renovated structure adjoining the ancestral
house of Mr. Chacko and family. The building showcases the fine
features of traditional Kerala architecture and woodcarving. Dates
back around 150 years, the Homestay rooms made mostly with seasoned
timber, still retain their original grandeur.

Location
Nelpura Heritage Homestay
is located at the epicenter of Alleppey backwaters, popularly known
as Kuttanad. This fabulous outskirt of Alappuzha town is a haven of
peace and tranquility. Turn wheresoever, you see the resplendent
glory of a pristine countryside. Vast stretches of paddy fields, and
intricate network of navigable lake, lagoons, canals, and rivers
fringed by coconut groves lend an ambience of unmatched freshness
and serenity to this region.
Known in
the past as the ‘Rice Bowl of Kerala,’ Kuttanad has
now gained international reputation as a backwater tourist center
attracting thousands of tourists every year. Dominated mostly by an
agrarian population, Kuttanad is noted for its farming below sea
level. This region is also frequented by a variety of migrating
birds. Moncompu, the village in Kuttanadu where the Home stay is
located is hardly 12 kms away from the town, and is accessible by
water as well as road transport.

By Road
From the Cochin International Airport it is around 100 Km delightful
ride by road to Alappuzha. From the Thiruvananthapuram International
Airport it is a 175 Km (approximately 3.30 hours ride by road) to
Alappuzha.
By Rail
From Cochin, take a south bound train via the Alappuzha route (enjoy
picturesque scenery as the route flanks the backwaters and the sea
on its way). Alight at Alappuzha Station. Nelpura Heritage Homestay
is 12 kms from town and is accessible by both water as well as road
transport. On prior appointment tourists will be picked up from
either the Railway Station or Bus Station in Alappuzha.
