In a terrain dominated by Sal and Bamboo forests, Kanha National Park stretches over 940 sq km in dramatic splendor over the Banjar and Halon Valleys. The National Park has more than twenty species of mammals and over two hundred avian species. Camp Dev Vilas is situated a pleasant twenty minute drive away from the entrance gate at Mukki, in Village Kareli.

The Majestic Royal Bengal Tiger, at the top of the food chain in Kanha, is clearly the biggest draw for wildlife visitors to India. Kanha offers fabulous sightings of "GAUR", the Indian Bison which is the largest wild cattle in the World. 'DHOLE', the Indian Wild Dog is the most tenacious predator of all and can be seen running in packs in the Sal forests. It is in Kanha that the magnificent hard ground 'BARASINGA' was rescued from the brink of extinction. Less than 600 of these noble deer survive now in the wild. The elusive Leopard and sloth Bear can be spotted in the evergreen Sal forests of Kanha occasionally. The meadows and copses of Kanha offer excellent opportunities to observe and photograph sounders of Wild Boar, herds of Spotted Deer and the shy Sambar Deer. Bark of the 'Muntjac', the oldest known deer species of the World, warns the Jungle of an approaching predator.

The permanent Tents at Camp Dev Vilas are spread over 10 acres of terraced grasslands among Mahaua trees. The 15 accommodations offer modern comforts in a rugged rural setting. All tents have 2 en suite toilets to facilitate guests for those early morning Jungle drives. The Camp organizes Safaris in 4WD vehicles for discerning wildlife viewers.
