
We are a group of persons who loves nature and are fascinated with Nagzira's Wildlife. We have a two-bedroom cottage (Wood's Heaven) with modern amenities just by the gate of Nagzira wildlife sanctuary on the outskirt of Chorkhamara Village. We are not professional tour operators but are interested to share our experiences and organize tours for Nagzira with like-minded persons. At request tours from Nagzira to Kanha,Tadoba and Pench can also be arranged, or pickup from Kanha, Tadoba and Pench can also be done.
Nagzira Safari
Nagzira was declared a wildlife sanctuary on the 27th May 1971. Its geographic location are - 21° - 10'N longitude 17° -12'E, temperature ranging from 5° - to 45° C with average annual rainfall of 1100mm to 1500mm.
A heaven for Nature Lovers Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary is a home to large number of animal and bird species including the tiger, it lies in Gondia district of Vidarbha region having an area of 152.810-sqkm. The sanctuary is enclosed in the arms of the nature and adorned with exquisite landscape, in the pristine forest of Sambalpur and Kodobarra Reserve Forest. The sanctuary consists of a range of Gaikhuri hills (highest altitude 511m) with small lakes within its boundary. These lakes not only guarantee a source of water to wildlife throughout the year, but also greatly heighten the beauty of the landscape.
The land vegetation of this sanctuary has diverse type of vegetation ranging from dry mixed forests to moist forest. The forest type is Southern Tropical Dry Deciduous Forests. . Some of the lakes are Nagzira Lake, Chorkhamara Lake, Bodalkasa Lake, Rengepar Lake, Murpar Lake, Lendezari Lake, Malutola Lake, Thadezari Lake, Balapur Lake, Badbadya Lake, etc. The flora includes major tree species, small trees, shrubs, herbs, grasses and a few under-shrubs. Major trees are Ain, Dhavda, Bija, Garari, Tinsa, Tendu and Surya. Teak grows sparsely while Bamboos grow plentifully.
The forests provide ideal conditions of harborage to a variety of birds and animals. The animals commonly spotted are Tigers, Panthers, Leopards, Bisons, Sloth Bears, Sambars, Four-Headed Antelopes, Blue Bulls, Chitals, Barking Deers, Mouse Deers, Civet Cats, Jackals, Jungle Cats, Spotted Hyenas, Wild Dogs and Hares. Among the birds that are prominent and commonly seen are Peafowl, the Grey Jungle Fowl and the Red Spur Fowl. The habitats of sanctuary include 34 species of mammals, 170 species of birds, 36 species of reptiles, 4 species of amphibians, and number of fishes. The invertebrate fauna includes, besides a number of insects and ant species, 49 species of butterflies.
The sanctuary remains closed from June16 to September30 (For the Monsoon). The visitors are required to pay entry fee, for vehicle, persons, guide and cameras.

sanctuary are:
October 1 to January-31- 07.00 am. to 7.00 pm.
February 1 to June15- 06.00 am. to 7.00 pm.
The Best Time To Visit to is during April/May, as the animals are found near water sources in the high sun.
