Location

One&Only Maldives at Reethi Rah is just 35km
(22 miles) from the airport at Male', the capital of the Maldives. A 75-minute luxury launch aboard the One&Only yacht brings guests directly to the resort located on one of the largest islands in North Malé Atoll.

Male' International Airport has direct flights from Austria, France, Germany, Italy, India, Japan, Malaysia, Qatar, Seychelles, Singapore, Sri Lanka, UAE, Switzerland and the UK. There is no malaria and no vaccinations are required.

The 26 atolls comprising the Maldives stretch from 600km (373 miles) southwest of Sri Lanka across the Equator, covering an area of the Indian Ocean the size of Portugal or the US state of Maine. Of 1,190 islands, just 200 are inhabited while an additional 90 have been transformed into resorts.

Sports & Activities

• Land Sports - The resort is always buzzing with the energy of island life, and there are dozens of activities to choose from every day. Excitement is just beyond the doorstep of each villa with beach volleyball, football, Pétanque and croquet. Bicycling and jogging are great ways to explore the island’s 44 hectares.

• Water Sports - Acclaimed for its rare underwater beauty and Technicolor coral reefs, the Maldives is home to some of the world’s best snorkelling and dive sites… many guests visit simply to explore the amazing tropical wonders of the Indian Ocean. Embark on a dolphin-watching expedition, glide over crystalline waters on a catamaran, or soar into the sky on a parasailing adventure. Other water sports on offer include banana tube rides, canoeing, kayaking, water-skiing and windsurfing. Enjoy island hopping and cocktail cruises or set out on a big game deep-sea fishing excursion.

  • Diving & Snorkeling - Thilas, giris, reefs, drop-offs, corners, channels, wrecks – and visibility of up to 50 metres – make this a wonderful and safe place to learn to dive, and an equally rewarding centre for further exploration by the already qualified. Within a short distance is one of the Maldives' best shark sites, as well as the 1988 wreck of the Hembadu, the Rasfari Protected Marine Area and some excellent turtle and manta ray viewing.
    
    At the One&Only Reethi Rah Dive Centre, a PADI Gold Palm Resort and the only PADI National Georgaphic Dive Centre in the Maldives, a team of experts offer a wide range of PADI-certified dive programmes for adults and children as young as 8 years old, including a complimentary daily orientation dive. A PADI Open Water Dive qualification can be achieved during a one-week stay. “Bubblemaker” lessons for younger kids and Discover Scuba programs for pre-teens and older are also available.
    
    Underwater scooters, digital cameras and camcorders are available for personal use. The One&Only Reethi Rah Dive Centre operates two luxury Dive Dhonis, complete with sun decks, hot showers, robes and refreshments.
    
    State-of-the-art equipment includes SCUBAPRO, as well as Bauer and Komptec compressors, all serviced on a regular basis with absolute safety
    in mind.
    
    The One&Only Reethi Rah Dive Centre is open daily from 8:30am to 7:00pm. 

  • Pools & Beaches - With 12 beaches and 40 pools, water sports abound on this island paradise.
    
    For more relaxing pursuits, guests may bask in the carved stone bed of the lap pool which stretches out into the ocean, cool in the main pool under swaying palms, or simply indulge in a day of seclusion at a private villa pool or personal stretch of sandy beach.
    
    The main pools are located near Reethi Restaurant. The adult-only lap pool extends 30 metres out into the lagoon and features a unique bubble bed at one end, while the freeform infinity-edge pool has an internal Jacuzzi and islands.
    
    Children have their own pool at KidsOnly, which is supervised at all times by a certified lifeguard.

  • Power Sports -  Water-skiing, speed boat hire, parasailing and wakeboarding are just some of the exciting power sports available at the Water Sports Centre, with expert tuition to help guests get started.

• Excursions - North Malé Atoll is alive with possibilities for those who wish to explore a little further afield. Day-trips off the island include traditional handline fishing aboard a Maldivian dhoni, luxury atoll cruising in One&Only’s 55-foot yacht (with snorkelling stops and some unique surprise refreshments breaks), private island picnics on the perfectly secluded ‘Robinson Crusoe’ sandbank, epicurean cruising with champagne and caviar, seaplane flights or big game fishing – catch yellow fin tuna, wahoo, and marlin.

  • Big Game Fishing Charters - Join an expert angler for the ultimate big game fishing adventure and cruise the open seas in search of sailfish, tuna, wahoo and giant trevally.

  • Luxury Yacht Charters - The One&Only Yacht, a sleek Ambassador 55, offers a unique cruise experience, allowing guests to discover the magical islands of the Indian Ocean. Exclusive half-, full-day and overnight charters, as well as sunset cruises and sandbank dinners can easily be arranged.

  • Sea Plane - To experience the Maldives by air, go diving to undiscovered sites, experience some aerial island hopping or maybe visit sister resort One&Only Kanuhura, a journey by seaplane which cannot
    be missed.

• Tennis - The renowned Peter Burwash International Tennis Academy challenges players with professional coaching offered on two floodlit synthetic grass courts atop a sand surface. Individual and group instruction, following the Peter Burwash method, is available for a fee. Coaches are also available as playing partners, and are happy to arrange social play.

Floor-to-ceiling glass screens reveal the ‘open-concept’ show kitchen, and a walk-in wine room with an extensive collection doubles as a private dining room for special events.   • Tapasake - Compared to two of London’s top Japanese restaurants, this over-water venue combines incredible sunset views with contemporary Japanese cuisine. For the purist, deliveries from Tokyo and Osaka coupled with the chef’s hand-picked ingredients ensure sushi and sashimi meet the highest standards. Tapasake’s menu features superb fish and seafood, fresh from the Indian Ocean, transformed into modern Japanese cuisine with a twist. In addition to a selection of premium Sakes, the wine list concentrates on the world's best Rieslings, currently taking wine critics by storm. Serving dinner only.

  • Fanditha - Hidden on the northern tip of the island is the sensual, Arabesque Fanditha. This exotic, boho-chic beachside spot serves a Middle Eastern influenced menu of mezzehs, chargrills and salads – accompanied by the finest selection of chilled rosés and champagnes. At the lounge area, guests may laze on divan-style bolsters and Arabic carpets, on bamboo loungers or in woven hammocks. On selected evenings, there are late-night parties under the stars, creating a chill-out ambiance amidst chandeliers dangling from trees. Open for sunset cocktails and dinner only.

  • Rah Bar - Swimmers and sunbathers needn’t move far from the main pool to partake in the amazing menu at the adjacent Rah Bar. An all day menu of healthy salads, wraps and snacks also offers low-fat smoothies made with exotic fresh fruits and vegetables, a variety of waters and a fresh juice station. With the fall of evening, Rah Bar is transformed into a vibrant cocktail bar with live music, cool martinis, tropical cocktails, sparkling champagne and a fine collection of vintage rums from the Indian Ocean and Caribbean islands.

  • Villa Dining - An extensive villa dining menu is available 24 hours a day, and includes such treats as personal beach barbecues. A team of Villa Chefs is on call to create exquisite menus for dining in privacy.

• Wine - More than 450 labels from some of the finest wine producers throughout the world are on offer at One&Only Reethi Rah. Stored in two temperature-controlled walk-in wine cellars are more than 9,000 bottles which have travelled from as far away as California, the châteaux of Bordeaux, the lush wineries of Australasia and the winelands of South Africa.
  
  Some of the greatest, most innovative and emerging vineyards are represented on a wine list which is unparalleled in the Indian Ocean. For wine lovers and enthusiasts, the list is a revelation as well as a tasting journey around the world.

• Attire - Attire on the island is casual during the day, with guests wrapped in sarongs or kaftans and barefoot in the sand. Guests are asked to wear bathing suit cover-ups and shoes or sandals in the restaurants and bars. Island chic is the keynote for evenings and smart casual resort attire is required.
