elegance and lifestyle.
Brought together in a lush and tropical site this new deluxe hotel
reveals classical charm and contemporary chic on the unspoilt South
Coast of Mauritius.
In the heart of the unspoiled South of the island of Mauritius, A hotel
that blends elegance with the magic of Africa…
Heritage…
one only has to whisper the word to conjure up images of a paradise lost, of
nature in all its original unspoiled purity, of the refinement and splendour of
past times.
African heritage
Nowhere else in the world but on the island of Mauritius can one find such a
rich mosaic of people whose cultures and traditions have melted into an exotic
symbiosis which is the source of the secret of the Mauritian art of living.
It is from the sensual and spellbinding qualities of Africa that
Heritage Golf & Spa Resort has drawn its inspiration. It is in
these qualities and in homage to our roots, that we find our authenticity, by
perpetuating our rainbow heritage…. one of hospitality and the ability to share.
Discover the authentic Mauritius…
Situated on the magnificent Bel Ombre Estate, a former sugar plantation covering
10 400 hectares edged by translucent blue lagoons, The
Heritage Golf
& Spa Resort is much more than simply another luxury hotel. It is
a place imbued with history – the history and splendour of the sugar barons –
set in surroundings of astonishing natural beauty. It is a place where the
sweetness of life reigns supreme. It is here where one can rediscover the beauty
and abundance which is unique to our “pearl of the Indian ocean”..
Luxury in perfect simplicity…
The tourist, weary of gold-plated ostentation and of modernism that can also be
soulless, will find the Heritage Golf & Spa Resort to
be a haven of peace and tranquillity where one can experience unfettered
privilege but in a manner that always feels accessible rather than something
remote and strange. Each guest will enjoy the experience, relaxed and with their
energy replenished, alone or with their family, an experience of authentic
sensations far from the bustling activity of the city.
With an amazing golf course and one of the most beautiful locations on the
Indian Ocean dedicated to well-being, the hotel offers guests a range of
delights unique on the island of Mauritius..
The Heritage Golf & Spa Resort blends to perfection
with the bountiful nature of the south coast of the island of Mauritius, at the
foot of the hills and mountains where the vestiges of primitive forests stretch
down to the edges of the ocean with its ever changing colours…
The ambiance is the first thing the visitor notices… welcomed by the sound of a
giant tom tom
drum…not a great majestic entry, but a beautiful open space framed by slate
lined pools filled with water lilies and surrounded by coco palms.
The public pavilions with their pagoda shaped shingle roofs are grouped
harmoniously and interweave cleverly.
Space, fluid movement and intimacy all characterise the architecture, the work
of the Mauritian
architect Jean Marc Eynaud…. an architecture which plays on contrasts: floors of
volcanic stone set against superb terracotta tiles and teak parquet floors,
roofs clad with shingle and with thatch, sumptuous cabinetry fashioned out of
local Filao wood.
The African inspiration for the Heritage can be found everywhere; subtle colours
used in décor that is pure and restrained: warm colours – ochre, tawny port,
saffron, chestnut, - deeply coloured woods, wengé (an indigenous timber) doors,
copper, African and Madagascan furniture and objects of unusual originality. The
interior designer Virginie Koenig has created a style that is subtly ethnic, and
perfectly adapted to our tropical surroundings producing an ambience of relaxed
elegance.
At sunset, it is pure Africa that fires up the ochre tints of the earth and the
flaming colours on the horizon before night finally falls and the hotel adorned
with softly filtered lights and echoing gently with nocturnal murmuring issues
an irresistible appeal to the imagination…
Nestled in lush green surroundings, the pavilions of ochre coloured masonry
roofed with thatch house the guest rooms of the Heritage Golf & Spa Resort:
154 Deluxe rooms (52 m2), 5 suites of 100m2 and 1 villa of 310m2,
decorated in a refined and resolutely refrained style which radiates an
impression of perfect harmony: warm tints, objects fashioned out of woven straw
and terracotta, furniture made of deeply coloured woods, great earthenware jars…
each room opens onto its own private and comfortable terrace, a stone’s throw
from the two swimming pools on the edge of a long beach of dazzling white sand.
The bathrooms sport the latest in contemporary design, with their square basins
and oval baths framed in black stone.
The Villa is a true haven of comfort, its décor coming straight out of the novel
“Out of Africa”, with its own terrace, private swimming pool and gazebo… here
the flair of the African style comes into its own, creating an ambiance that is
refined and cosseting, and promising absolute tranquillity.
The 2 guest rooms of the villa can be converted in 2 Junior Honeymoon suites for
honeymooners staying at Heritage Golf & Spa Resort. With direct access to the
beach, each suite, decorated with contemporary furniture and hints of African
decorative ornaments, has a spacious room with an original architectural feature
where the bathroom opens directly onto the bed so that you can enjoy the
delightful company of your loved one at all times and endlessly contemplate the
beautiful view over the horizon.

Seven Colours Spa
Dedicated to treating both
body and spirit, the Seven Colours Spa,
the concept of Véranda Resorts, is an oasis of tranquillity,
authentic and refined.
This unique spa village of cabins in ochre tints, draped with
gossamer veils balancing delicately on the refreshing breezes… the
African inspired décor surrounded by plants, water features and
cascades and exuberant blooms of island flowers.
The Seven Colours Spa with a floor area of 3,000m2 has 20 treatment
rooms, 7 massage rooms of which 3 are double, and 2 massage kiosks
on the beach, affusion showers, steam baths, a huge sauna with a
cold water pool, a pool with eddying currents, divans in kiosks
especially provided for relaxation, and one consulting room where
tailor-made treatment programmes can be discussed.
The Seven Colours
philosophy
Seven Colours is a unique approach in the art of well-being, one
which combines ancient therapies, sensory stimulus and
bio-technology. This approach is based on the interaction and the
balance of energies and colours, on the life giving connection that
exists between light and life, between colour and the energy of
life…
Inspired by ancient oriental philosophies based on the seven centres
of energy – the charkas – 7 colour rituals have been supplemented
with art to stimulate our inner resources and to rediscover complete
harmony between body and spirit.
The Seven Colours rituals, VIOLET, INDIGO, BLUE,
GREEN, YELLOW, ORANGE and RED each comprise 4
complementary treatments : the adjustment of energy, massages,
treatment of the body and the face… a complete range of massages,
such as the Balance massage (GREEN), gentle and rhythmic to improve
blood circulation, or the Harmony massage (INDIGO) which caresses
the body with vigorous sweeping strokes.
A consultation forms part on one’s first visit, allowing the
therapist to define the dominant colour for each client…. their
“chromatic personality” and to determine which rituals are
appropriate.
The aim is to prepare a tailor-made programme associated with the
dominant colours for each individual client, in order to rebalance
their energy centres in an environment suffused in positive energy,
colours, fragrances and music.
These rituals are associated with a range of Seven Colours
cosmetics, consisting of skilfully created mixtures of essential
oils from Madagascar, 100% natural and grown organically on the
Indian Ocean Island.
Besides the treatments based on the Seven Colours rituals, the Spa
also offers totally original massage treatments called
“Signature treatments” such as the
Seven
Colours massage in which hot semiprecious stones are
used to stimulate the 7 chakras. This is how our personalised
relaxation treatments cancel out stress and rebalance the clients’
energy centres».
GOLF DU CHATEAU - A unique golfing experience
A new championship golf
course on Mauritius, in the heart of the unspoiled south
Attached to the Heritage Golf & Spa Resort hotel, the magnificent 18
hole “Golf du Château” golf course which covers 100 hectares, is the
masterpiece of architect Peter Matkovitch, of Peter Matkovich and
Hayes the world renowned South African architectural practice.
Situated between the mountains and the sea in an undulating
landscape interspersed with lakes, streams and tropical trees, the
championship course (Par 72) which is both technically challenging
and varied, provides golfers with unique possibilities for a game
with exceptional moments and memories.
It presents a real challenge to everyone who plays there, egging
them on – whatever their level of competence – to surpass themselves
in terms of their technique, their know-how and their skill. The
architects of the course have integrated the two water courses that
cross the golf course in the most beautiful way, creating small
lakes which enhance the demands made on the technique of the players
and yet fully respect the harmony and tranquillity of the place.
They have also integrated the magnificent Château of Bel Ombre and
its gardens into the design at the heart of the golf course.
This course is certainly one of the most beautiful on the island
with an amazing view over the lagoon to the south on one side and
towards the hills of the Black River Gorges nature reserve on the
other, giving players unique panoramic views at each hole.
It consists of 2 loops of 9 holes each. The 9 hole outside loop is
3,210m long while the inside loop is 3,297m long: the 3 by 3 vary
from 140m to 200m, the 4 by 4 from 320m to 430m, the 4 by 5 from
490m to 520m. In addition, a mashie course has been created, a 9
hole par 3 course, ideal both for beginners as well as for more
advanced golfers wanting to perfect their game. It is sited at the
heart of the 18 hole course..
The numerous facilities at the “Golf du Château” include a putting
green, a chipping green and a driving range. Golfers can enjoy both
their game as well as physical exercise and can opt for either a
motorised golf buggy or take an enjoyable stroll around the course.
Golf carts and caddies are of course provided for the golfers should
they require them.
Two qualified professionals are responsible for the operations of
the golf course and can offer beginners lessons which can be videoed
for extra learning potential. Finally, there is a restaurant as well
as a bar, manned by courteous high quality staff to receive the
players for a moment of well earned relaxation after a good game.
