The Maritim

Location :
The hotel lies
on a 25 hectare private estate known as Balaclava along Turtle Bay
(between Port Louis and Grand Baie) on the north-west coast, which
is the sunniest region of Mauritius.
The distance to the airport is 60 km (45 min), to Port Louis 12 km
(15 min) and Grand Baie 12 km (15 min).
The estate
'Balaclava' is
a historical estate dating back to the 18th century, with a
fascinating natural scenery. On the northern border flows Rivière
Citron, over dams and cascades into a shallow lagoon flanked by
lust tropical vegetation. Mysterious ruins, remain to be explored
as witnesses of the colonial times. Walkways and footpaths allow
for long walks through the luxuriant garden of the estate with its
magnificent views over the most picturesque mountain range in
Mauritius.
Beach & sea
"Turtle Bay"
is the first Marine National Park in Mauritius with well preserved
underwater life. There are excellent snorkeling grounds right off
the beach. The white sandy beach in front of the hotel is about
1000m long and protected by a coral reef. The bay provides
excellent conditions for all kind of water sports.

All 180 rooms
are in the 2 wings stretching from the main building in a slightly
elevated position overlooking the bay. All room have sea view.

private bathroom, lounge and dining area, guest bathroom, safe,
large balcony or verandah.
Restaurants
'Belle Vue',
Main Restaurant : Terrace restaurant on split levels under an
expansive thatched roof. Excellent view over the pool and the sea
from all tables. 260 covers. Breakfast Buffet with an extensive
selection of hot and cold dishes, home-made bread, tropical
fruits, cereals, pastries, etc.., Dinner 5 times weekly different
buffets or barbecues. On the other days, table d'hôte menus with
several choices for the various courses. Vegetarian meals
available.
'Mon Désir', Gourmet Restaurant : Monday - Saturday, evenings only
A la carte restaurant of the highest standard ; international
delicacies ; air-conditioned. 40 covers. Guests on half-board
receive a credit of RS 400.- each
'La Marée', Beach Restaurant : Open 6 days per week. Seafood
specialities and other grillades.
Bars
Quarter Deck
Main bar, right on the sea with incredible view over the whole
bay.
Distinct 'maritime' atmosphere. Snack menu during the day.
Beach Bar : Nicely situated amidst the palm trees, on the beach
front. Drinks, snacks and grills during the day.
Sports
Maritim Hotel
offers the most extensive variety of sports facilites.
Daily activities include games and competitions such as
beach-volley, petanque, table-tennis, water-polo and football.
Except where otherwise specified, all sports equipment are free of
charge.
GOLF : A 9 hole (par 29) golf course, designed by Graham Marsh and
Atam Mohun. Each hole can be played from 2 different tees. Driving
range and putting green. Golf-pro available for individual
lessons, beginners and advanced courses. No green fee for
residents. Clubs rental : Rs 250.- per set GYM Located in the
'Tropical Heat Club', right on the beach. Fitted out with a
selection of modern equipment.
HORSE RIDING : Open from Monday to Saturday, the stables and the
corral are on the upper part of the property. There are 8-12
horses and ponies. Horse-riding is available against a minimal
fee.
TENNIS : 3 bitumen courts. All courts have floodlights. Rackets
available from the hotel free of charge.
WATER
SPORTS :
Boat-House
Open daily : 09.30 - 12.30 hours 14.00 - 17.00 hours Full equipped
for all kind of water sports Water sports are completely free of
charge and are not subject to any time limits. Collective lessons
for skiing and wind-surfing are also free.
Activities and Facilities : Water-skiing, wind-surfing, sailing (Hobbie-cats
& Lasers), canoeing, pedaloes, glass-bottom boat trips,
snorkelling.
Diving Centre Open daily, except Saturday The centre is fully
equipped to take 10 divers on 2 dives per day. Equipment includes
tanks, regulators, masks, snorkels, fins, weight bells, wet-suits
and stabilizing.

The Turtle
Club Open daily from

A small club-house consists of a games and TV-room, toilets and a
verandah where hostesses take care of children 03 - 12 years.
Games, toys, children videos, etc. Children's play ground. Daily
children's programs.
Baby-sitting - Baby-sitters are available on request (24 hours'
notice) against a small fee.
