Utse began its journey more than a decade ago with a vision to
provide service with a very personal touch, and that remains
our overriding objective to this day.It is located on the
major Jyatha road in Thamel, the major tourist hub in
Kathmandu. We have over 40 rooms with all the modern amenities
to satisfy a discerning guest. The rooms have the touch and
warmth of traditional Tibetan hospitality and culture, while
the roof top garden and the rose marble lobby, resplendent
with gilded moldings and embellished with murals of great
buildings, legendary heroes and their ladies in traditional
style of Tibet offer an escape from the hustle and bustle of

Roof Top Restaurant -
The terrace commands a lovely
view of the city and the mountains rimming the valley. Spend
a few private hours here, soaking in the sun or enjoy the
brilliance of the evening as the lights come on in the city
below and the mountains fade into tracery with the
approaching night.

restaurant opened its doors more than three decades ago in
Thamel, with the objective to introduce people to Tibetan
cuisine at very reasonable rates. It contributed greatly to
the development of Thamel as a tourist hub and is
acknowledged as being among the pioneers in the restaurant
business in Thamel.
Long serving cooks at the restaurant ensure that you get the
taste of authentic Tibetan cuisine, some of the restaurant’s
specialties include Gacok as it showcases a wide range of
Tibetan dishes and thus provides a wonderful gastronomical
experience, stimulating all senses of touch, smell and
sight. It is served in a pot which is kept under constant
heat through the use of charcoal; it is a mix of succulent
meat, vegetables, exotic mushrooms which lend a wonderful
aroma served along with momos, noodles, and tea.
Other popular dishes include momos, which are dumplings
stuffed with meat or vegetables, the stuffing is prepared
with a mix of spices, vegetables and choice of meat to
create momos that just melt in your mouth.
We serve many other Tibetan dishes and ensure that our
guests are provided with the best no wonder the Business
Traveller magazine of Australia wrote “The most authentic
Tibetan menu…it may now be the best Tibetan restaurant in
the world”.

Accommodation
The rooms branch
out into four floors, either with parquet floor or carpeted
floors. The rooms are divided into three categories namely,
super deluxe, deluxe and standard rooms. While the super
deluxe rooms ensure that you have all the facilities and its
large room area provides a very comfortable and relaxed
atmosphere, the standard rooms though smaller in size are
excellent value for money.
