Shillong is approachable by Car, Bus, Flight and Helicopter.

Car - This is the most convenient way and widely used by most travelers.

Bus - The buses run during the day in and out of the city. This mode of transport is the cheapest way to travel to Shillong; however you have to be ready for a stuffy and delayed bus.

Flights - There are direct flights from Calcutta that land in the Shillong Umroi airport 3 times a week. Then the journey from the Airport till the city center which is approximately 30m, which will take you around 45 minutes to the center of the city.

Helicopter - The helicopter service from Guwahati to Shillong is available through out the week except on Sundays. The journey approximately takes 20 minutes and you would land in Upper Shillong which is 10Km away from city center.
