Just 15 kilometres off the town of Jorhat,
in the intrinsically Assamese village of Jalukonibari is the Thengal
Mansion.
This Mansion that is over 70 years old retains all the hauteur of the
colonial plantation days and is yet ideally placed for an insightful and
fascinating stay in a verdant village of Upper Assam that appears to

Jorhat, the gateway to north-east Assam is
the heartland of tea. Besides its many tea estates, it has the famous
Teklai Experimental Centre that conducts research on new varieties of
tea and its therapeutic effects.

time of 1 hr, 10 minutes. Thengal is a 25 minute drive from Jorhat
Airport.

Besides the suites, all with attached

room, lounge, kitchen and pantry. The architecture is an immediate
throwback to a colonial time and an opulent plantation past with its
colonnaded verandah, covered chandeliered sit-out overlooking the lush
lawns, fireplace and Louis XV furniture in the drawing room.
