CHENNAI –
PONDICHERRY – KUMBAKONAM – CHETTINAD - MADURAI
DAY
ONE : Chennai
Arrival at
Chennai. Transfers and check-in at the hotel. Rest of the day free
at leisure or optional sightseeing covering Fort St. George, St.
Mary’s Church, Santhome Basilica, Marina Beach etc. Overnight at the
hotel.
DAY
TWO : Pondicherry
After breakfast,
check-out and drive to Pondicherry (160 km) via Mahabalipuram, a
World Heritage site, to visit the famous Shore Temples, Arjuna’s
Penance, Five Rathas etc. Lunch at Mahabalipuram. Arrive at
Pondicherry and check in at Maison Perumal. Evening, spend time at
the beach. Overnight at Maison Perumal.
DAY
THREE : Pondicherry
After
breakfast, proceed for a guided tour of Pondicherry covering Sri
Aurobindo Ashram, Auroville, Museum, Botanical Garden, Churches etc.
Evening at leisure for own activities. Overnight at Maison Perumal.
DAY
FOUR : Kumbakonam
After breakfast,
check-out and proceed to Kumbakonam (170 km); en route, visit
Gangaikonda Cholapuram. Arrive at Kumbakonam and check-in at the
hotel. Afternoon, visit Darasuram and Swamimalai. Overnight at the
hotel.
DAY
FIVE : Chettinad
After breakfast,
check-out and proceed to Chettinad (150 km); en route, visit
Tanjore - Brihadeeshwara temple and Chola Palace. Arrive at
Chettinad by evening and check –in at Visalam. Proceed for Grama
Nadai Payanam - the Village Walk. Overnight at Visalam.
DAY SIX :
Chettinad
Early morning,
bi-cycle tour, familiarizing the place. After breakfast, explore
Chettinad – Saree weaving centres, local Athankudi tile making units
etc. Evening, proceed for a Bullock Cart Tour of Chettinad covering
important attractions.
Over night at
Visalam.
DAY SEVEN :
Madurai
After breakfast,
check-out and proceed to Madurai (80 km). Arrive at Madurai and
check-in at the hotel. Afternoon, visit Meenakshi Temple. Reserve
the evening to witness the vibrant and colourful temple ceremonies.
