Sprawling
over 32 acres at the fringe of the Badlands of India, Lakshman Sagar was
built in the late 19th century as a hunting lodge by the then Thakur of
Raipur, Lakshman Singh Ji to host other noble families and British
emissaries. As a continuation of the hospitality and traditions of the
house of Raipur, Kunwar Manavjeet Singh Raipur has envisioned a Getaway
much like his forefather Thakur Lakshman Singh Ji, though with a
conservationist view of his heritage and surroundings, all manifested
through the endless details in the architecture & design, the
cuisine, and the well thought of activities & non-activities
tailored personally for his guests in a captivating natural topography
ideal for mindless relaxation.
Architects
Vasant and Revathy Kamath conceptualised twelve Shikar Ghars of about
1200 sq.ft. each as villas for guests. The Mardana and Zanana sections
have books, music and other comfortable seating arrangements where
guests are welcome to lounge during mealtimes or otherwise: there is no
conventional demarcated dining area nor fixed menu system.
Architects Vasant and Revathy Kamath
conceptualised five Shikar Ghars of about 900 sq.ft. each as villas for
guests. The Mardana and Zanana sections have books, music and other
comfortable sitting arrangements where guests are welcome to lounge
during mealtimes or otherwise: there is no conventional demarcated
dining area or fixed menu system. The unique experience that Lakshman
Sagar offers guests comprises of live cooking, music and fireworks at an
isolated spot. The location looks up at the lit-up Fatehgarh fort and is
reached by Bullock cart. Guests may also dine on a float in our private
lake with a similar ambiance.
Rather than attempt a façade of
rebuilding a misunderstood grandeur of bygone days, an attempt has been
made to integrate the property into the existing environs using
indigenous material and techniques of construction including mud and
stone under the guidance of the famous husband-wife architect team of
Revathi & Vasant Kamath.
Guests may choose their own private dining
and lounging spaces in the restored Zanana & Mardana section from
the choicest of Rajasthani cuisine Raipur has been known for in all of
Marwar, or a few other minimal international options. Other special
dining options include a dinner on the lake or a visit to Raipur Fort
for a lunch and walk-through with Kunwar Manavjeet Singh Raipur
showcasing all the family memorabilia.
