Life
today demands an escape from the routine and what better way than to
spend precious moments at Lal Mahal Palace. The Palace was the hunting
lodge and a forest retreat of the erstwhile rulers of Jaipur.
Maharaja "Sawai Madho Singh ji" initiated the
construction of this Palace at the end of 18th century.
Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh (1881-1922), G.C.S.I.,
G.C.V.O., was born in 1861 and succeeded the throne in 1882, he was
distinguished as a Ruler for his enlightened administration. He was
one of the princes who visited England at the time of King Edward
VII's coronation in 1902. It was he who started and endowed a donation
of Rs. 15 lakhs, afterwards increased to 20 lakhs, for the Indian
Peoples Famine Fund.
As the name reflects, Lal Mahal Palace is a century old
palace, painted with lime based red colour (a characteristic of the
region). The palace faces to the north, with a panoramic view of the
ancient temple and the old Ramgarh fort as reminders to the past.
Lal Mahal is spread over 20 acres of land flanked by
pristine hills in the background and lush green lawns. Ideal to enjoy
a stress free day by soaking in the sun on the verdant lawns or taking
a cool dip in the clear waters of the resort’s 150 years old pool. You
can also take a short 5 K.M ride to watch beauty at its best on the
banks of serene Ramgarh Lake while having High Tea.
Evenings can be enjoyed with a moonlight dinner on the
lawns under the beautiful night sky and watching traditional folk
artists performing live in front of you.

leap backward in time to a time of royalty and grandeur. Each and
