Your
first impressions of Mountain Ridge will probably be the space, peace,
quiet and the breathtaking panoramic views.
After a short acquaintance, you will feel that Mountain Ridge is just
like home. There is no quit like it for perfect relaxation and though
the city is merely a few minutes' away, Mountain Ridge is in another
world...
Mountain Ridge occupies the top of a high rocky bluff, just outside the
ancient village of Sisarma. On the eastern side is a mountain that
separates Sisarma from Lake Pichola, to the south is protected forestry
land. To the West are the beautiful hills and valleys and little tribal
settlements that are there waiting to be explored, and to the north,
rises Bansdara Mountain, topped by the majestic Monsoon Palace.
The City of Udaipur is only a few minutes' away, so you are not far from
the shops and landmarks, but the short distance from the city to
Mountain Ridge makes all the difference in the world as far as the
tranquility is concerned. The sounds of horns, brakes, loudspeakers and
other noise pollution seem a million miles away. Mountain Ridge enjoys
balmy days of fresh air and peace, and delightful velvety nights of
gentle breezes and only the sound of crickets.
There is so much you can do - swimming, trekking, going on a village
safari, bird watching, mountain walking, having a massage or just
sitting & relaxing with your favorite book with a soothing sounds of
nature.
Our cook takes a pride in preparing and serving mouth-watering Indian
and International cuisine, and the rest of the staff are ever ready to
ensure you have a pleasant and comfortable stay.
Altogether your stay at Mountain Ridge will recharge you and provide you
with happy memories of a rarely seen facet of India.
Accommodation
IA beautiful suite with a
dome above the bed, lovely stone walls and a bright, sunny feel about
it. The windows look out to the north and east, taking in magnificent
scenery, with the Monsoon Palace as the centrepiece of the northern
aspect. This suite gives out onto as spacious, private balcony with
ample seating for a family. Pots of geraniums and various climbing and
trailing plants enhance the beauty. The suite incorporates a
refrigerator, dressing room and a large bathroom with a huge bathtub
(big enough for two!!!), so that you can relax and refresh in elegant
surroundings. The suite’s bathroom has been designed with relaxation in
mind. The bathtub is large enough for two, irrespective of whether you
might decide it is a fine place to wallow and read a book, or whether
you may like to share it………. along with some bubble bath and a bottle of
wine!
The spacious bedroom has been created to give a feeling of light and
euphoria. During the day the windows admit plenty of light and air. In
the evening, hidden lighting in the dome and niches provide a charming,
romantic ambience. Winter nights can be extremely chilly in Udaipur, but
you can huddle up to a lovely log fire in the suite. In contrast the
summer heat can be forgotten with the efficient air cooler. A garden on
the roof helps to keep the temperature of the suite ambient, and
trailing plants tumble from there to creep along the verandah; giving
shade, fragrance and beauty. The large, private balcony enjoys the
morning sunlight and the evening sunset, but it’s north and east facing
position prevents harsh exposure to the midday sun. The panorama from
the balcony stretches round a wide sweep of the Arawalli Hills and
includes the lush fields of the Sisarma Valley, the villages of Nai,
Bujra and Sisarma and the Monsoon Palace. Pots of flowers such as these
geraniums decorate the terrace creating lovely splashes of colour.
I must brag about this! A plant nursery started up just a stone’s throw
from Mountain Ridge. I popped over there a few weeks back and I couldn’t
believe my eyes! They had daffodils, narcissi, fresias, hyacinths,
oxallis and so many other beautiful flowers that I went berzerk and
purchased pots and pots of them. Here’s a lineup on the wall of the
dining-room terrace, which has always be beautiful, but never so
colourful until now.
