Day 01
Departure.
Day 02
Arrive Delhi. Transfer to hotel. Morning visit New Delhi - visiting
Qutub minar, India Gate ( war memorial ), Lakshmi Narayan temple
-modern hindu temple, drive past President's House, Parliament
House, Secretariat buildings. Afternoon sightseeing of Old Delhi
visiting Rajghat and Shanti Vana-the cremation sites of Mahatma
Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru, Jama Masjid and drive past Red Fort and
Chandni Chowk.
Day 03
Morning free. Later drive to Mukandgarh. Check in at Hotel.
Day 04
Visit the region of Shekhavati- Mandawa, Dundlod & Nawalgarh.
Day 05
Drive to Ajmer/Pushkar. Afternoon visit the Tomb of the Sufi Saint,
Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti, the Dargah Sharif. The city was founded by
the Chauhan ruler, Aiaipal, during the 11th century & is dominated
by the Taragarh Fort built by Prithviraj Chauhan. In Pushkar, visit
the holy Lake and also the famous Brahma Temple. Pushkar is one of
the holiest places for Hindus. Overnight Pushkar.
Day 06
Drive to Samode Palace. Rest of the day at leisure.
Day 07
Morning drive to Jaipur. Check-in at hotel. Afternoon visit
Maharaja's City Palace (Museum) , Jantar Mantar (the observatory),
Albert Hall Museum , Ram Niwas Gardens; drive past Hawa Mahal (the
Palace of Winds) and through the pink rose residential / business
areas of Jaipur. Overnight Jaipur.
Day 08
Morning excursion to Amber Fort , the ancient capital of the state
until 1728 AD. Visit the Jagmandir or the hall of victory glittering
with mirrors, Jai mahal & Temple of kali. Afternoon at leisure.
Day 09
Morning drive to Karauli. Check in at hotel. Afternoon visit to the
bazar & the city palace with its exequisite frescoes & stone
carvings. Aarti at the Madan Mohanji temple.
Day 10
Morning drive to Gwalior. Afternoon visit the Man Mandir, Gujari
Mahal (today an archaeological museum), The fort, Temples of
Sas-Bahu, Teli Ka Mandir, Jai Vilas Palace, Tomb of Gaus Mohammad
and the Mausoleum of Tansen.
Day 11
Morning free in Gwalior. Afternoon drive to Agra.
Day 12
Morning visit the world famous Taj Mahal built by the Moghul Emperor
Shahjehan in 1630 for his Queen Mumtaz Mahal to enshrine her mortal
remains. Later visit the
Agra Fort containing the Pearl Mosque, the Halls of Public and
Private Audience. Also visit the Tomb of Itmad-ud-Daullah built by
Empress Noorjehan in memory of her father.
Afternoon free for shopping. Overnight in Agra. Taj Mahal is closed
on Fridays.
Day 13
Morning drive to Bharatpur visiting Fatehpur Sikri enroute. Fatehpur
Sikri is 40 kms from Agra and built by Emperor Akbar in 1569 and
abandoned after 15 years due to scarcity of water. See the graceful
buildings including the Jama Masjid, Tomb of Salim Chisti, Panch
Mahal and other Palaces.
Afternoon visit the finest bird sanctuary in Asia - the home to over
350 species.
Keoladeo Ghana Bird Sanctuary, also known as Bharatpur Bird
Sanctuary is - one of the most spectacular water birds sanctuary
features nesting indigenous water birds as well as migratory water
birds and water side birds. It is inhabited by sambar, chital,
nilgai and boar. From October till December the indigenous water
birds nest in the acacia trees, sarus cranes nest around the lake.
From December on, the migratory geese, duck and cranes are the main
feature of the sanctuary. Overnight Bharatpur.
Day 14
Drive to Delhi. Car at disposal. No hotel. Later transfer to airport
in time for return flight.
