Nagarnar
is situated 18 km from the Bastar district headquarters at Jagdalpur,
and well connected by road with Raipur, the state capital of
Chhattisgarh. Nagarnar is renowned for terracotta handicrafts created by
the local craftsmen who have acquired international acclaim. High skill
levels are also evident in weaving, carpentry and metal crafts in
mediums such as bell metal and wrought iron. The village homes are made
of stone and mud with thatched roofs or stone slabs and placed
symmetrically in clusters where the residents express pride in their art
