Rinchenpong Village Resort - Kaluk / West Sikkim
[Reservation]

Rinchenpong Village Resort - Kaluk Outer View

About 133 km from Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim, if you hit off the beaten track you will reach a village that wear a strange name, Kaluk in Rinchenpong. This is where our story begins.

Sprawling upon a 40 acre estate of pristine forest, Rinchenpong Village Resort at Kaluk is hardly an old affair. Starting humbly in the year 2000 not as just another business venture set up to eke out the best from the burgeoning tourist inflow here. It grew out of principle and swears and flourishes by it ? as Mr.T.B.Gurung, our Founder Director puts it, "Apart from offering the tourists the best of our un-spoilt sylvan village experiences in all its traditional fullness, we also want our hamlet to be self sustained by this trade. We feel that our village folks should be able to eke out a decent livelihood too.

All around one can see people engrossed in their farms indulging in organic farming. From the exotic vegetable to local succulent fruit including coop full of country hens, a shed full of cows goats, et al. Floriculture too is gradually flourishing. The village and its inmates are indeed growing along with the resort. All around dwells the unspoilt mountain charm. People are encouraged to plant trees and the forest around has grown considerably in the past three years.

As Sikkim fall under the purvey of the Ecotourism society, our growing resort is a fine example of village tourism. As the state wakes up to this growing consciousness of their once pristine landscape being in threat of defacement by a growing tourist influx, it is a boon and an example that our resort could herald the beginning of a new self sustaining entity based on tourism.

The people here are conscious about the fact that it is they who need to safeguard their village along with the growth of trade. The resort has already handled numerous groups from far and wide and catered to their complete satisfaction.

The guest are requested not to litter the area. Felling of trees had stopped considerably and efforts at afforestation has actually begun.

You will emerge out of the mist and mountains with smiles that are stretched up to your ears, exhilarated and excited but a bit nostalgic, yet all set to get into the grind in the city again.

The rooms and cottages of Rinchenpong Village Resort is situated on the Western face of a hill from where you can enjoy the most panoramic view of Mt. Khangchendzonga which is rarely seen from anywhere else in Sikkim. The morning and evening view of Mt. Khangchendzonga will be an unforgettable moment for the visitors to our resort.

The Cottages are traditionally built with all modern facilities which is inclusive of attached bath with 24 hours running hot and cold water. There are 14 double bedded rooms. Besides Indian and Chinese cuisines, we serve traditional Sikkimese cuisines in our dining hall.
