The Emerald Gecko is the brainchild of Benny and Lynda who gave up their city lives to make the fantastic Andaman Islands their home. For the past 7 years they have nurtured their first project, a mid-range resort called The Wild Orchild into a tremendous success. It was during this period that they interacted with many travelers from all across the globe and saw that there was no where on Havelock that catered to the conscious budget traveler who not only wanted affordable accommodation but also a bit of comfort and pampering. Emerald Gecko is a place where in addition to taking care of your basic needs (a clean and safe environment) there is a generous heap of gourmet food and fantastic island hospitality

Accommodation

Huts                                                                                                 Built with local produce of the islands, these 5 huts are basic accommodation with beach views, private shower and clean communal washrooms. Each of these lockable huts can accommodate two people. Facilities include: a comfortable bed, mosquito net, small veranda and a sit out under the shade of the coconut palms. A cozy place to put your head down after a full day!

Bamboo Bungalows                                                                                     These one-story accommodations are our newest addition to Emerald Gecko. Set back between the coconut palms, these quaint bamboo constructions have a spacious bedroom with storage place, writing desk, along with our characteristic bathroom with an open-air shower. Enjoy the spectacular sea view from your outdoor seating area.

Bamboo Lodges                                                                    The bamboo lodges are set among the palm fronds and are the probably the first of their kind in the world. Built with bamboo that has drifted from Burma, these split-level accommodations give you ample space. The top floor houses the bedroom with a study area and a spacious verandah over-looking the sea. At the ground level, the open-to-the-sky washrooms and the secure storage area give you plenty room to spread out. These rustic structures in this enchanting beach environment will inspire you to return to your roots!

Restaurant                                                              Black Beard's Bistro is the first budget resturant on the island that serves gourmet food. For the spice lover, the Bengali flare is areal treat: hand ground spices, coconut milk, mustard oil and tons of fresh fish! Our Italian selection offers hand-made pasta and our outdoor seafood grill adds flavour to a starry Andaman night.
Beer, wine and spirits are served at the beach side bar. The cocktail evenings and campfires are a perfect way to mingle with your fellow guests at the Gecko
