Sprawling on the banks of the river Yamuna, Delhi, the capital of India, typifies the soul of the country. In time the city conceals within its bosom annals of civilisations that flourished for more than three thousand years. Today, the city is a curious blend of the modern and traditional, skyscrapers, beautiful gardens and wide tree-lined avenues perpetuate the Mughal passion of landscaping and architectural excellence.

Brief : Delhi is the capital of India. The city is actually consisting of two parts. Old Delhi was capital of the Muslim India in between 17th and 19th centuries. Many monuments, forts, Mosques etc. can be seen in old Delhi. British lately created the other part of the City New Delhi as the capital of India.

There have been at least eight cities around modern Delhi in the past. Starting from Indraprastha, which featured in the epic Mahabharata over 3000 years ago, to the eighth city created by British in 1911 to move the capital city of India from Calcutta to Delhi.

As the capital of the India, Delhi is a centre for all the political activities within and around India. Delhi is a Union Territory and has its own assembly. Delhi is also a major Centre for foreign   traveller as most of the Airlines have their offices. Many major countries have their Diplomatic offices & consulates based in New Delhi.

Museums: National Museum, National Art gallery, Gandhi & Nehru Memorial Museums, Delhi fort & War Memorial Museum, Crafts Museum, Dolls Museum, Philatelic Museum, Rail Transports Museum.

Places of Worship: Laxmi Narayan Temple, Jumma Masjid, St, James Church, Gurdawa Sisgunj, Adinath Jain Temple, Kalkaji Temple, Lotus Temple, Hazrat Nizzamudin's Shrine, Gurdwara Rakabgunj.

Parks: Azad Memorial rose Garden, Buddha Jayanthi Park, Hauz Khas Deer  Park, Mughal Garden, Roshanara Garden, Connaught Place Garden.

Shrine Gardens: Raj Ghat where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated, Shanti vana where Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was cremated, Vijay ghat where Lal Bahadur Shastri was cremated, Shakti Sthal samadhi where Indira Gandhi was cremated.

Old Delhi: Adilabad Fort, Ashoka Pillar, Firoze Shah's citadel, Humayun's Tomb, Lodhi Tombs, Jantar Mantar Observatory, Red Fort, Purana Qilas, Qila Rai Fort, Salimgarh-Surajkund Lake, Safdarjang's Tomb.

New Delhi: Central Secretariat, Rashtrapati Bhavan, Birla House, India Gate, Supreme court, Parliament House, Pragati Maidan, Chanakyapuri Diplomatic Enclave.

Mehrauli: Qutb Minar, Palace, Tombs.
