Raising above blue mists, 6500 feet in the heights of the Nilgiri Mountain, is the picturesque hill station of Ootacamund, popularly known as Ooty and is the "Queen of hill stations". It is one of the most popular tourist resorts in India. Nilgiris means "Blue Mountains". It is a land of picturesque picnic spots. It is situated at an altitude of 2,240 metres above sea level.

Conveniently connected by rail and road, this "Queen of Hill Station", is a pleasant 3 hour drive from Coimbatore. 4 hours from Mysore. The 6 hour drive to Ooty from Bangalore, takes visitors through the sanctuary of Bandipur and Mudhumalai, teeming with rare and exotic species of wildlife.
