Wildside is a divine homestay in Dehradun
with an enviable location. The homestay is surrounded by forest
reserves, which ensure that no unsightly concrete creations can come up
around it. The forests are home to many rare birds and wild animals
including leopards, panthers and wild boars. With a bit of patience
coupled with luck, they can be spotted from the Wildside’s vibrant
environs. The homestay is located in the lap of nature but just 9
kilometers from Dehradun’s center. As a result, it is a long way away
from the chaotic city but in close proximity to all of its conveniences
like restaurants, shops and even malls.
The home is extremely picturesque and was
featured in an exalted décor magazine as well as a nationwide travel
guide. Its lush and large lawns are speckled with majestic oaks,
fruit-bearing trees and a riot of colorful flowers. The 3 guest
bedrooms, much like the rest of the home, speak of grandeur and
elegance. The home’s décor and architecture are western with delicate
Indian touches. It is bedecked with rare paintings and a lifetime’s
worth of precious artifacts. The home is, quite simply, a perfect
reflection of its owner, Mrs. Nita Roy, a lady with immense grace,
panache and style. After spending over 3 decades in Delhi working for
the British High Commission, Mrs. Roy made Wildside her home, and soon
opened it for the pleasure of the discerning traveler. With the aid of
her efficient staff, she has been running this highly successful
homestay since 2004. And today, Wildside boasts of a prestigious and
loyal clientele.
Other than being close to the city center,
the homestay is just walking distance from the Malsi Deer Park. This is
a nice place to go for a walk and work up an appetite. Here, one can
also see many animals like the leopard and deer, which unfortunately are
not kept in pleasant conditions. Mussorrie is just 22 kilometers away
and Rishikesh can be reached with a one hour drive. Sections of river
Yamuna, which are rich in fish are also nearby and the famous Rajaji
National Park is just one hour away.
