The camp is situated in the foothills of
Kumaon region. To reach the camp one has to cross the lake by boats and
then walk for about 600 mts to reach the campsite. It is a big stretch
of flat land (7 acres approximately) surrounded by lush green forest on
all sides. Wild life sightings are common. The accommodation is in tents
on a twin-sharing basis. The camp has western /Indian style
toilets/bathrooms. Showers are also provided. The camp has a
well-equipped kitchen with trained cooking staff dishing out Indian,
Kumaoni and Continental dishes. The
camp doesn’t have electricity. The camp provides lanterns but
you are also advised to bring your torches.
Sattal is 23 km South-east of
Nainital & is App.295 Km from Delhi via Kathgodam-Bhimtal.
Day
01 : Arrival at Sattal. Transfer to GJC. A briefing about the
camp will be given in the dining area at lunch. Then the group
(sub-divided into smaller groups) proceeds for stipulated river
crossing/rappelling/ nature walk trail, obstacle
course, cricket/volleyball etc. Tea break at 5pm. After tea the group
continues with the activities i.e. rappelling, river crossing. Evening
will be around a bonfire. Dinner at 9.30 pm. Leave for night trek walk,
climb the Machaan (Tree-Top) to view the probable wildlife. Overnight in
tents.
Day
02 : Early wakeup (tea with cookies will be available in the
dining hut). Freshening up, followed by breakfast. After breakfast trek
in the surrounding hills. Back to the camp for lunch. After lunch a
break for 1hr. Later, the group will be engaged in activities/games like
tug of war, cricket, badminton and volleyball. Bonfire from 7.30 pm
onwards. Antakshri competition around the bonfire in the evening. Dinner
at 9.30pm. Overnight in tents.
Day 03 :
Early wakeup to pack up. Breakfast in the camp. After
breakfast, departure for Delhi.
